The Advanced Grantmaking Specialist is a vital member of Foundation Source’s Tax & Legal team, serving as a trusted steward of our grantmaking operations and fiscal sponsorship work. In this role, you will manage the day-to-day and executive functions of the FS Charitable Fund Fiscal Sponsorship Program, ensuring grants are processed accurately, compliantly, and with exceptional care. You will also collaborate closely with our Charity Research and Grants to Individuals teams to support high-integrity giving that advances charitable missions.

FSCF Fiscal Sponsorship Program (60%)
- Serve as the primary point of contact for fiscal sponsorship organizations, projects, and grantees, providing steady, service-driven support and clear guidance.
- Review donor applications and onboard new projects by creating accurate profiles in the FS Charity Database and Impactfully, including outcomes reporting setup.
- Establish and maintain project infrastructure (bank accounts and Anedot donation pages) in line with program standards and compliance requirements.
- Oversee financial operations for sponsored projects, including account reconciliation, ACH coordination, grant entry, and fee calculation/processing.
- Request, review, and track annual reports and required documentation, ensuring ongoing compliance and strong recordkeeping.
- Manage all related administrative workflows with precision, accountability, and a consistent focus on supporting meaningful charitable impact.
Grants to Individuals (GTI) (10%)
- Support Foundation Source’s Grants to Individuals program, including all administrative and compliance workflows
Charity Research – (10%)
- Verify tax-exempt status of prospective grantees through IRS records, charity websites, and direct outreach, ensuring sound, compliant giving.
- Review Supporting Organization opinion letters and related documentation with a careful compliance lens.
- Maintain and enhance the Foundation Source Charity Database, keeping records accurate, current, and audit-ready.
- Prepare verification forms and coordinate completion with charities to support timely, well-documented grant decisions.
Equivalency Determination (ED) – (10%)
- Manage the Equivalency Determination process end-to-end through our third-party partner, ensuring smooth, compliant issuance of ED certificates.
- Draft clear, accurate engagement letters and maintain thorough documentation throughout the workflow.
- Track ED grants in Salesforce and coordinate with grantees and service partners to keep timelines on track and resolve issues proactively.
Expenditure Responsibility (ER) – (10%)
- Coordinate ER pre-grant inquiries with grantees and support the compliance review process alongside the Advanced Grantmaking team.
- Draft ER grant agreements and maintain clear, complete documentation aligned with regulatory requirements.
- Request, track, and review ER reports from grantees to ensure timely submission and ongoing compliance.
- 2-4 years of grantmaking experience
- Clear, professional communicator who builds trust with internal teams and external partners.
- Highly detail-oriented and organized, with strong judgment about priorities and deadlines.
- Fast learner who takes ownership, shows initiative, and reliably brings work to completion.
- Able to balance precision in day-to-day tasks with an understanding of the larger process and its downstream impact.
