Urgo Medical North America provides medical devices and products to hospitals, nursing homes and home health agencies – and the patients they treat – with a focus on acute, chronic, and surgical wounds, and additionally skin moisturization. Our extensive portfolio of products establishes proven protocols for the care and management of wounds, skin, and skin breakdown.


The Clinical Specialist uses their expertise to support the vision of UMNA and their wound care goals. The Clinical Specialist facilitates the clinical sales strategy in focused accounts and supporting the sales call pathway from a clinical orientation. Through the development of collegial and professional relationships, they influence change in healthcare in order to improve clinical outcomes and deliver on corporate objectives.


The candidate for this role should be located in the Atlanta, Georgia area.

Duties and Responsibilities

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop and implement the Clinical Sales Strategy in association with Sales and Health Care Systems in our top targeted accounts.
  • Deliver product related programs, including professional education events, development of evidence (QIPs) and other peer-to-peer events to appropriate audiences and groups that commit and expand the Urgo portfolio.
  • Develop implementation tools where and when appropriate.
  • Coordinate clinical activities with designated District Managers, Health Care Systems, and Account Managers to assist in the achievement of sales goals to improve patient and clinical outcomes.
  • Act as the primary clinical resource for Account Managers, ensuring that policies and procedures are properly implemented.
  • Provide training and support for new hire Account Managers.
  • Assist with additional training of tenured Account Managers, District Managers, and Heath Care Systems teams in field, in the training center, and at regional/national meetings. 
  • Represent UMNA as an active member of Clinical Associations.
  • Identify and nurture potential advocates and clinical investigators.
  • Partner with Marketing, CHS as needed


Key Decisions

  • Facilitates the selection and approval of clinical documents to be used by UMNA in educational as well as consultative efforts
  • Collaborate with Medical & Professional Affairs department members and key stakeholders to ensure activities drive core business results. 
  • Serve as a clinical resource in the research and development of new products, clinical trials, and the market launch of new products or services as requested 
  • Demonstrate fiscal responsibility in the management of time, travel, and resources related to business

Competencies

  • Demonstrated comprehensive understanding of wound etiology, treatment algorithms, and clinical decision-making. 
  • Demonstrated leadership skills

  • Ability to deliver clear, tailored messages to diverse audiences through written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to utilize Microsoft Office, SalesForce.com, Power BI.


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Physical Therapy or other nursing related specialty required, Master’s degree preferred.
  • WOCN, or AAWM (CWS) board certification required.
  • Approximately 5 -7 years progressively responsible, work-related experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the wound care industry or surgical and operating room departments.
  • Experience in presenting to large and small groups.
  • Experience working for a medical product manufacturer as a clinical resource to sales strongly preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain credentialing.


Work Environment

  • Indoors, in an office or clinical environment, with temperature control.
  • No adverse environmental conditions expected.
  • Approximately 75% overnight travel.


Physical Demands

  • Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards.
  • Requires ability to hear and speak, or equivalent communication ability for effectively conversing with co-workers, managers, customers in person and via telephone.
