Join us as our Fresh Foods Manager!

We are seeking an food-focused individual to join our Germantown location team as our Fresh Foods Manager. The Fresh Foods Manager oversees, manages, and ensures the highest standards in production, project implementation and oversight of the Fresh categories for the Co-op at the direction of the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager.  If you have a passion for great food and mission-driven organizations  then we want to hear from you!

RESPONSIBILITIES

Customer Service

  • Communicate with customers through a variety of means about our products and our product philosophy. Shuttle, e-news, web site, social media.
  • Support staff in providing customer feedback regarding products and respond in a prompt and courteous manor.
  • Work to serve customers through direct communication in stores and at special events. Seek opportunities to engage customers directly. Answer questions as appropriate.

Product Management and Purchasing

  • Oversee and assist with product handling and presentation, ordering, receiving, and inventory control. 
  • Ensure products stocked adhere to the co-op’s product philosophies and standards.
  • Oversee and assist with purchasing, packaging and pricing and display of product to reach sales and margin targets
  • Work with vendors directly to source product and navigate supply issues for the department

Staff Supervision

  • Supervise and manage department staff, establish work schedules, performance standards, training programs, etc. to ensure correct ordering, receiving, unloading, storage, freshness, shrink level, displays, customer service, and related processes for multiple Weavers Way Fresh Foods departments.
  • Ensure department staff are trained and accountable for department policies and procedures and achieving department standards; acts as a role model for staff through professional conduct.
  • Supervise, train, review, and develop team members in accordance with company policies and procedures; administer and document corrective actions.

Site Safety

  • Create and maintain a safe environment for team members and customers.
  • Ensure that department facilities including shelves, displays, equipment, work, and storage areas are clean, function well, are orderly, efficient, and meet health department standards.
  • Ensure standards for safety, proper food handling practices, sanitation, productivity, and waste management. Ensure current food handler and other related certificates are maintained for department employees as required.
  • Ensure compliance with all county, state, and federal laws, standards, and practices.

Marketing and Merchandising

  • Ensure department is merchandised in accordance with the needs of the community; maintain shelf allocations to ensure the availability of products at all times.
  • Some Marketing related responsibilities, including writing occasional Shuttle columns, promoting through social media, arranging for product demos and samples, and creating effective department signage.
  • Organize monthly promotional features and holiday offerings.

Misc.

  • Meet weekly with Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager to review sales, departmental condition’s, operational challenges and victories.
  • Assist with quarterly invoices.
  • Complete evaluations as assigned.
  • Observe all Weavers Way Co-op policies and procedures. 
  • Other related duties as assigned.


Requirements
  • Commitment to the mission and goals of Weavers Way Co-op
  • ServSafe certification or similar certification preferred, ability to become certified required;
  • Five years of experience managing a full-service fresh food department such as meat, deli, or prepared foods preferred;
  • Three years of experience working in a full-service fresh food department such as meat, deli or prepared foods required;
  • Ability to stand for long durations of time;
  • Ability to safely operate various equipment used in food preparation;
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures;
  • Be or become upon hiring a member in good standing of Weavers Way Co-op
