Description
Summary/Objective: Responsible for managing a significant nursing-related function as well as providing nursing care, treatment, and/or assessment services in the clinic.
Essential Functions
- Evaluates and manages patient needs. Offers education and support to patient and families.
- Collaborates research with investigator, other employees and patient. Provides on-call coverage for patients receiving chemo at home on home pumps.
- Administers chemotherapy medication, including injections and IVS; documents medication given or prescribed by ordering physician as required by specialty; follows specific protocols.
- Demonstrates an awareness of self-responsibility and accountability for own professional practice.
- Assists with flow of patients to maintain the integrity of the chemotherapy department.
- Recognizes and responds to emergency situations as appropriate.
- Assumes responsibility for maintaining current certification in CPR.
- Assumes responsibility for maintaining chemotherapy/biotherapy certification through ONS every two years.
- Accepts responsibility for reading and referencing new policy and procedures and Clinical Services Notes newsletter.
- Attends mandatory safety training programs and lectures.
- Adheres to nursing policy and procedure when documenting information in patient’s medical record.
Requirements
Required Education and Experience: Graduate of an accredited school of Registered Nursing. Must possess active Florida license as a Registered Nurse. Current BLS certification or to be completed within three months of employment. Current ACLS certification or to be completed within 6 months of employment.
Preferred Education and Experience: Preferred 2 years oncology experience. Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certification through ONS within 90 days of hire.
