Description
The Senior Accountant is responsible for day-to-day general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and analysis for assigned functional areas. This role supports accurate financial close, insightful analysis, and continuous improvement of accounting processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, account analyses, accruals, and supporting schedules
- Prepare and review journal entries for assigned functional areas
- Perform variance analysis and provide clear explanations of financial results
- Assist with monthly close and preparation of financial reporting packages
- Track, analyze, and report financial trends by product line, business unit, and customer
- Prepare audit, tax, and regulatory reporting schedules (including international filings, where applicable)
- Analyze foreign currency transactions and their impact on financial results
- Review accounting and operational workflows to improve efficiency and effectiveness
- Identify financial risks and opportunities through analysis
- Support management decision-making with timely, accurate financial insights
- Participate in special projects and cross-training initiatives
- Supervise, coach, and develop a staff accountant
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- CPA, CGMA, or other advanced accounting certification preferred
- 3+ years of relevant accounting experience
- Manufacturing industry experience required
- Strong knowledge of GAAP
- Solid understanding of accounting processes, internal controls, and procedures
- Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
- Ability to work independently and adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment
- Team-oriented mindset with a customer service focus
- Ability to propose creative, practical ideas to improve performance
