The Produce Associate is responsible for preparing fresh fruits and vegetables for sale while delivering friendly, knowledgeable customer service. This role focuses on produce trimming, washing, packaging, rotation, and display, ensuring that all products meet quality, freshness, and food safety standards. The Produce Associate also assists customers with product questions, selections, and special requests.

Produce Preparation & Merchandising

• Wash, trim, cut, package, and label fruits and vegetables for retail sale
   
• Ensure produce is fresh, visually appealing, and properly rotated using FIFO standards
   
• Stock and maintain produce displays, tables, and refrigerated cases
   
• Monitor product quality and remove damaged, spoiled, or out-of-date items
   
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and handling procedures
   
• Assist with receiving, inspecting, and organizing produce deliveries
   

Customer Service

• Greet customers promptly and offer assistance in the produce department
   
• Answer questions regarding produce varieties, ripeness, storage, and preparation
   
• Fulfill special customer requests, including custom cuts or selections when available
   
• Maintain a friendly, helpful, and professional demeanor at all times
   
• Support the market’s commitment to exceptional customer experience
   

Department Support & Safety

• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
   
• Clean and sanitize prep tools, surfaces, and equipment
   
• Follow all safety guidelines, including proper lifting techniques
   
• Support other departments or duties as needed during peak times

Qualifications

• Previous grocery, produce, or food handling experience preferred but not required
   
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
   
• Ability to provide friendly and efficient customer service
   
• Basic knowledge of fruits and vegetables (or willingness to learn)
   
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40–50 pounds
   
• Availability to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays
