MOSDOH - Dental Equipment Technician

A.T. Still University's Missouri School of Dentistry & Oral Health (ATSU-MOSDOH) is seeking a full-time, non-exempt Dental Equipment Technician on the St. Louis, Missouri campus. This position reports to the Assistant Director MOSDOH Clinical Operations. The Dental Equipment Technician is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and ensuring the proper functioning of all dental equipment and related systems within the clinics. This role supports patient care, student training, and clinic operations through preventative maintenance, timely repairs, and coordination with facilities and vendors.


Duties & Responsibilities 

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair all attached and portable dental equipment, including handpieces, dental chairs, compressors, sterilizers, wet lab equipment, water systems, and amalgam separators, to ensure safe, efficient, and continuous operation.to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance, safety checks, and general upkeep of dental and clinical facility equipment in accordance with manufacturer guidelines, OSHA requirements, and applicable regulatory standards.
  • Diagnose equipment malfunctions and complete corrective repairs promptly, including response to dental equipment emergencies, to support uninterrupted patient care and student learning.
  • Monitor and maintain clinical facility equipment and systems to ensure operational readiness and minimize downtime in support of clinical and educational activities.
  • Determine, order, and manage parts, supplies, tools, and equipment necessary to complete service requests; maintain appropriate inventory levels and secure test devices and calibration tools.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between MOSDOH Clinics, the ATSU Facilities Department, and external vendors to coordinate equipment service, repairs, warranties, and supply needs.
  • Provide technical support, training, and guidance to faculty, staff, and students regarding the safe, proper, and effective use of dental equipment and systems.
  • Track, document, and maintain accurate records of preventive maintenance schedules, service requests, completed repairs, compliance activities, and required training; attend manufacturer and technical training.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 


Requirements

Skills & Experience 

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred one year technical training or schooling.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • One to three years experience in dental, medical, or mechanical systems.
  • Knowledge: Working knowledge of hydraulics, mechanical and electrical systems. Operating a computer with preparing reports.
  • Skills: Good interpersonal skills with employees, students and the public.
  • Abilities: Manual dexterity to repair and inspect dental equipment and products.
