Description

As an Exclusion Technician Handyman, you will play a vital role in protecting homes and businesses from unwanted pests while providing high-quality maintenance and repair services. This hybrid position combines technical expertise in pest exclusion with diverse handyman skills to deliver exceptional customer service and ensure project completion within deadlines.

Primary Responsibilities


Exclusion Duties:

  • Conduct thorough inspections of properties to identify rodent activity, harborage areas, and potential entry points.
  • Implement effective exclusion methods using traps, sealants, and other exclusion techniques following Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) standards and EPA-approved materials.
  • Accurately document all work performed, including inspection findings, exclusion methods used, and customer interactions.

Handyman Duties:

  • Diagnose handyman problems using blueprints, diagrams, and expertise.
  • Install, repair, and maintain a wide range of handyman projects.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and conduct tests to identify root causes of issues.
  • Plan layout and installation of handyman equipment and fixtures to ensure functionality and aesthetics.
  • Strictly adhere to all safety standards and regulations set forth by the State of Texas and ABC Home and Commercial Services.

Shared Responsibilities:

  • Develop trusting relationships with clients, address concerns, and deliver exceptional service.
  • Maintain a clean and professional appearance, ensuring uniform, vehicle, and equipment are in top condition.
  • Work independently while adhering to daily schedules and route plans, demonstrating excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Collaborate with the service manager to ensure timely completion of service calls and address any customer concerns promptly.
Requirements

Exclusion Skills:

  • Working knowledge of exclusion methods for rodents following TDA standards.
  • Understanding of rodent biology and behavior.
  • Experience with traps and other exclusion tools.
  • Ability to identify common signs of rodent activity.
  • Handyman Skills:
  • Intermediate to Advanced Texturing Skills (Knock Down, Orange Peel, Splatter, Acoustic).
  • Advanced Door Hanging and Caulking Skills.
  • Basic to Intermediate Carpentry and Trim Work Skills.
  • Intermediate Deck and Fence Skills.
  • Basic Tile Installation Skills.
  • Advanced Drywall Repair and Assembly Skills.
  • Advanced Fascia Installation Skills.
  • Two years of handyman or related experience.

General Requirements:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated history of excellent attendance.
  • Basic computer skills (MS Office Suites).
  • Ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective problem-solving skills.

Physical Demands:

  • Able to perform extended periods of walking outdoors in diverse weather conditions.
  • Regularly performs tasks requiring reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
  • May engage in repetitive lifting, twisting, pulling, pushing, and carrying objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Comfortable wearing a 40 lb. backpack for extended periods.
  • Adheres to OSHA respirator requirements when necessary.
  • Requires excellent vision, including close-up, distance, peripheral, and depth perception.
  • Ability to work comfortably in confined spaces such as crawlspaces and attics for prolonged periods.

Driver's Responsibilities:

  • Operates a company vehicle safely and efficiently, following pre-assigned daily routes.
  • Assumes responsibility for basic vehicle maintenance, including tire condition, replacement, brake checks, and timely oil changes.
  • Maintains strict adherence to all safety protocols and relevant driving regulations, reporting any work-related injuries immediately to designated supervisors.
  • Complies with established company vehicle usage policies and upholds a clean driving record.
  • Promptly reports any auto accidents to the Service Manager within one hour of occurrence.
  • Maintains an active Texas driver's license and provides updated copies to Human Resources.
  • Must be licensed in Pest and Termite Control.
