MOLD BENCH TECHNICIAN

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Works with Tool Room Supervisor to learn the nomenclature, functionality, and mechanics of plastic injection molds.

Develops familiarity of molds to disassemble, assemble, clean, and perform repairs to manifolds, hot drops, ect.

Learns basic operations of grinder, lathe, and mill to perform rudimentary repairs on production molds.

Develops basic tool making skills to help in other departments as required.

Maintains machinery and tools.

Maintains Square Foot Concept; implements safe work behavior with self and equipment.

Operates fork truck, or hand truck to move, convey or hoist molds to and from the mold storage and mold bench area.

Required to build inventory of personal tools as required by the trade; includes buying or making tools.

Works overtime when asked.

Skills:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to read and comprehend blue prints, simple instructions and short correspondence. 

Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner with internal customers.

Basic math skills are required.

Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to walk or sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

WORK ENVIRONMENT While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes, airborne particles, or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Positions to be filled on 1st Shift, 2nd Shift, and 3rd Shift.
