Lower School Teacher
Description

Lower school teachers at Eastbrook Academy work with students from grades K4 through 5. Teachers are expected to plan, inform, and engage students in dynamic instruction, serving as influential figures who seek to support families in the academic and spiritual development of their children. Keeping the whole child in mind, teachers exhibit a growth mindset through continually and creatively developing their pedagogy.  


Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement daily lessons that align with Eastbrook Academy’s curriculum and standards.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies (e.g., direct instruction, hands-on learning, and small groups) to meet diverse student needs.
  • Integrate a Christian worldview naturally into all subject areas.
  • Assess students’ progress regularly through formal and informal testing, providing timely feedback to students and parents.
  • Maintain accurate records of student activities, ensuring all documentation is in accordance with applicable laws and school policies. 
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment.
  • Establish clear expectations for student behavior and manage classroom discipline in a manner consistent with school policy.
  • Foster a culture of respect, kindness, and intellectual curiosity among students.
  • Participate actively in faculty meetings, professional development workshops, and school events.
  • Collaborate with grade-level peers and specialists to ensure a cohesive educational experience.
  • Maintain regular, professional communication with parents regarding student progress and classroom activities.
  • Model a lifestyle of integrity and faith consistent with the Eastbrook Academy Statement of Faith.
Requirements
  • Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of students with varying learning styles and academic levels.
  • Skilled in maintaining a disciplined yet nurturing environment where students feel safe, respected, and ready to learn.
  • Ability to naturally and effectively integrate biblical truths and Christian worldview into daily academic lessons.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for regular partnership with parents and collaboration with faculty.
  • Ability to utilize educational technology and platforms (e.g., student information systems).
  • Ability to identify student needs quickly and adapt teaching strategies or interventions accordingly.
  • Ability to manage lesson planning, grading, and administrative tasks efficiently while maintaining a focus on student engagement.
  • Ability to build positive, professional relationships with students, families, and colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
  • Staff must hold all information regarding students, parents, and colleagues in the highest confidence.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Current Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) Teaching License (preferred).
  • Proven track record of successful teaching or student-teaching experience in a primary (K-5) setting.
  • Active membership in a local church body and a demonstrated commitment to the Christian faith, consistent with the Eastbrook Academy Statement of Faith.

Physical Requirements: 

  • Ability to remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing) for extended periods of instruction.
  • Capability to move around the classroom and school campus frequently, including supervising students on the playground or in the lunchroom.
  • Sufficient vocal stamina to lead instruction and manage a classroom environment throughout the school day.
Salary Description
$45,000 +
