Description

  Summary

We’re seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer who can step in quickly and make an immediate impact supporting production, process improvement, and new product development. Our customers operate in highly demanding environments, requiring disciplined execution, strict adherence to quality standards, and a commitment to getting it right the first time.

Responsibilities

· Apply engineering principles to develop manufacturing processes in line with company strategy.

· Responsible for the development of manufacturing process solutions to complex problems. 

· Accountable for the implementation of process steps, from original concept through to production handoff. 

· Design these processes to a high level of process capability.

· Develop/design tooling package to meet machining and inspection requirements.

· Develop CNC programs for machining of products.

· Accountable for product development, first article development, configuration changes, build process definition and implementation. 

· Responsible for the development of technical solutions to complex problems within Company, our customers, and suppliers. 

· Deliver technical support of manufacturing process development and integration for production. 

· Utilize root cause analysis, preventative and corrective action to reduce/eliminate non-conformances.

· Manage resources to meet product introduction targets.

· Make decisions regarding equipment use, maintenance, modification, and procurement.

· Implement standard operating procedures for production operations.

· Create process documentation package to include process flow, shop floor work instructions, and parameter sheets.

· Determine and implement improvements to the production process.

· Perform related duties as required.

· Participate in site Kaizen and other related Lean events and activities as requested.

· Comply with OSHA, health, safety, and environment requirements.

· May be assigned to carry out tasks, not specifically listed, within the scope and skill level of this job description in support of department objectives and to develop individuals’ skills.

Requirements

  

Education 

· Bachelor's degree in Engineering or technical degree required

Experience 

· Minimum 5 years, preferred 6+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment

· 3+ years of experience leading process improvement projects

· Technical expertise in aerospace jet engine components is strongly preferred

· Understanding of EDM, CNC, CMM processes strongly preferred 

· Working knowledge of quality system models such as ISO9000, AS9100,

· Proficient in Microsoft Office and Manufacturing ERPs (Job Boss)

· Proficient in SolidWorks, Mastercam and PC-DMIS

Physical Requirements

Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. 

The worker may be required to move, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, finger, grasp, feel, talk, hear, and/or complete repetitive motions during course of work. 

Visual Requirements

The worker is required to have visual acuity to perform an activity such as: operating machines such as lathes, drill presses, power saws and mills where the seeing job is at or within arm’s reach; performing mechanical or skilled trades tasks of a non-repetitive nature such as ones by carpenters, technicians, service people, plumbers, painters, mechanics, etc. 

Environmental Conditions

The worker is subject to inside environmental conditions: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.

The worker is subject to noise: There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level.

The worker is subject to vibration: Exposure to oscillating movements of the extremities or whole body.

The worker is subject to hazards: Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.

The worker is subject to atmospheric conditions: One or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system of the skin: Fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases or poor ventilation.

The worker is subject to oils: There is air and/or skin exposure to oils and other cutting fluids.
