JOB SUMMARY:
The Claims Project Manager is responsible for leading and delivering claims-related initiatives, including system enhancements, operational improvements, audits, and strategic claims programs. This role partners closely with Claims leadership, IT, Finance, Compliance, and external vendors to plan, execute, and drive projects that improve claim handling accuracy, efficiency, and scalability. The ideal candidate is execution-focused, highly organized, and skilled at translating business objectives into actionable project plans while managing complex, cross-functional stakeholders through delivery.
Job Responsibilities
1. Lead end-to-end delivery of claims projects, from intake and planning through execution, implementation, and post-go-live support.
2. Develop and manage detailed project plans, timelines, milestones, dependencies, and risk logs.
3. Partner with Claims leadership to define project scope, objectives, success metrics, and prioritization.
4. Serve as the primary liaison between Claims, IT, Finance, Compliance, Data, and external vendors.
5. Drive claims system initiatives, including enhancements, integrations, testing, and releases.
6. Facilitate requirements gathering sessions and translate business needs into clear, actionable project requirements.
7. Coordinate and manage user acceptance testing (UAT), defect tracking, and resolution.
8. Identify risks, issues, and dependencies early; proactively drive mitigation and escalate when needed.
9. Track and report project status, risks, and outcomes to leadership and key stakeholders.
10. Maintain project documentation, decisions, timelines, and implementation artifacts.
11. Support change management activities, including communication, training coordination, and adoption readiness.
12. Analyze operational and system data to measure project outcomes and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
· Experience in insurance claims operations, preferably auto claims.
· A high school diploma or GED is required
· Strong understanding of claims workflows, reserving concepts, and operational processes.
· Ability to manage multiple initiatives and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
· Demonstrated ability to coordinate work across teams and drive tasks to completion.
· Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
· Experience working with claims systems and operational tools; comfort learning new systems.
· Ability to work with data, reports, and metrics to support decision-making.
· Self-starter with the ability to work independently while aligning leadership direction.
· Exposure to process improvement, system enhancements, or operational initiatives is a plus.
