Job Title: Track Assistant Coach
Reports To: Athletic Coordinator
Status: Seasonal (March-May)
Pay Rate: $1,200 Season Stipend
A Telos Academy assistant track coach helps instruct and train students in preparation for track meets. An
assistant track coach works directly with the head track coach and academic team to instruct, evaluate,
encourage, monitor, and record the progress of individual students. They devise and adapt resources to
suit the specific learning styles and needs of each student.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Instructs, teaches, and guides students during practice
- Monitors student progress by training, giving appropriate feedback, and maintaining records of each student’s progress and development
- Coordinates and reports students’ progress to teachers and academic advisers
- Manages pupil behavior in the classroom and in the community in conjunction with Telos trained teachers and mentors
- Reports progress on individual student assistance as necessary
- Creates an athletic working environment for students
- Helps create progress reports once monthly
- Selects and uses a range of different learning resources and equipment guided by the teacher
- Completes residential certifications and classes such as CPR, 1 st Aid, Processing Training, TB Tests, Restraint Training, etc.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- A basic understanding of the disorders Telos treats or a willingness to learn about these disorders
- A love of physical activity and training
- Ability to direct the class
- Ability to hold and maintain discipline within the academic setting
- Flexibility
- A love of working with and teaching adolescents
- A desire to be a team player
