Position Summary:
The General Manager for the Mold Division oversees all operational, commercial and technical aspects of the mold business, ensuring world-class quality, on-time delivery and profitable growth. This position will share time between our Tecumseh, MI HQ and our Fremont, OH location.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Business Management
- Develop and execute the Mold Division’s strategic plan aligned with Uniloy’s overall business objectives.
- Drive revenue growth, margin improvement, and long-term profitability.
- Identify new market opportunities, technologies, and partnerships to expand the division’s capabilities.
Operational Excellence
- Oversee end-to-end mold operations including engineering, design, machining, assembly, testing, and service.
- Implement lean manufacturing principles to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and optimize workflow.
- Ensure production schedules, quality standards, and delivery commitments are consistently met.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives across all functions.
Commercial & Customer Engagement
- Collaborate with Sales and Marketing to develop competitive proposals, pricing strategies, and customer solutions.
- Build strong relationships with key customers, understanding their technical needs and long-term programs.
- Support global sales efforts with technical expertise and strategic guidance.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary team including engineering, operations, project management, and support staff.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and innovation.
- Ensure workforce planning, training, and succession strategies are in place.
Technical & Product Expertise
- Provide oversight and direction for mold design, engineering standards, and manufacturing technologies.
- Evaluate new materials, machining methods, and tooling innovations to maintain competitive advantage.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and Uniloy quality systems.
Project & Program Management
- Oversee major mold programs from concept through delivery, ensuring scope, cost, and timing targets are achieved.
- Implement robust project management processes and cross-functional communication practices.
- All other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in mold manufacturing, tooling, plastics processing, or related industries.
- 5+ years of leadership experience managing operations, engineering, or business units.
- Proven track record of leading teams and driving operational improvements.
Preferred
- Experience in blow molding, injection molding, or extrusion tooling.
- Background in CNC machining, mold design, or tooling engineering.
- Lean/Continuous Improvement certifications (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing).
Work Environment:
Office / Manufacturing environment. Employee may be occasionally exposed to moving equipment, mechanical parts in motion, risk of shock and other hazards associated with a manufacturing environment such as overhead cranes, welding, machining, painting etc.
This is an office-based position that requires walking, sitting, standing, bending, driving, reading, seeing, hearing, speaking, concentrating, and communicating.
