Full-Time Deli / Bakery Manager (Management Experience Required)

Sentry Foods on 92nd & Lisbon is seeking an experienced Deli / Bakery Manager to lead department operations, staff, and financial performance. This is a full-time management position intended for candidates with prior management or supervisory experience in food service or retail.


Position Overview


The Deli / Bakery Manager is responsible for all aspects of deli and bakery operations, including staffing, inventory control, food safety, pricing, and execution of weekly ads. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong organizational skills and the ability to manage people, product, and profitability.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise deli and bakery staff; provide training, scheduling, and accountability
     
  • Oversee daily operations including production, merchandising, and sanitation
     
  • Ensure all weekly ad items are carried, produced correctly, and priced accurately
     
  • Manage inventory control, ordering accuracy, and shrink reduction
     
  • Work with multiple vendors to secure competitive costs and reliable supply
     
  • Use vendor systems (including UNFI) to review order guides, invoices, and dated order reports
     
  • Price items accurately off invoice to maintain gross profit targets
     
  • Enforce food safety, sanitation, and HACCP standards at all times
     
  • Maintain and troubleshoot department equipment, including scales and pricing systems
     
  • Communicate effectively with store leadership to meet sales, labor, and margin goals
Requirements

 

Required Qualifications

  • Previous management or supervisory experience is required
    (Deli, bakery, food service, or grocery retail preferred)
     
  • Proven ability to manage employees, schedules, and daily operations
     
  • Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation standards
     
  • Comfortable using technology (ordering systems, scales, pricing systems)
     
  • Reliable, organized, and capable of leading by example
     

Preferred Qualifications

  • HACCP / Food Safety Manager Certification
     
  • Experience with vendor ordering systems (such as UNFI)
     
  • Retail grocery deli or bakery management experience
     

Schedule

  • Full-time
     
  • Weekends and holidays required based on department needs
     

Compensation

  • $18–$22 per hour, based on experience
     
  • Weekly pay
     
  • Paid holidays after one year of employment
     
  • Paid vacation after one year of employment
