Position: Family Transportation Driver

Summary:
The primary function of the Evening/Weekend Family Transportation Driver is to safely and reliably transport children and families experiencing homelessness to and from educational, enrichment, and supportive services. This role directly supports school stability, family engagement, and access to essential resources. 

Reports To: Education and Employment Director

Classification Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

 Responsibilities: (to be performed with or without reasonable accommodation) 

• Operates within DuPagePads Core Values and Trauma-Informed Policies. 

• Serves as primary transportation support for children and families experiencing homelessness.

 • Transports children to and from school, after-school programs, tutoring, extracurricular and enrichment activities.

 • Provides transportation for educational meetings, including IEP meetings and parent-teacher conferences. 

• Transports families to community events, workshops, and agency-related appointments.

 • Provides transportation during evening and weekend hours.

 • Plans safe and efficient transportation routes and schedules.

 • Conducts pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections. 

• Maintains passenger safety and reports unsafe conditions. 

• Completes required transportation documentation in a timely manner.

 • Participates in trainings, team meetings, and program activities.

 • Performs other duties as assigned.  

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

 • Ability to safely operate a large vehicle. 

• Strong interpersonal, communication, and engagement skills. 

• Effective problem-solving and organizational skills. 

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

 • Knowledge of homelessness, poverty, and mental health preferred.

Education / Experience:

 • Valid Driver’s License with acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR). 

• Previous professional driving experience preferred.

 • High School Diploma or GED preferred.

Other:

 • Full-time position with required evening and weekend availability. 

• Must provide own transportation to and from work; agency vehicle provided for services.
