Position Overview
The Fleet Manager is responsible for planning, directing, managing, coordinating and supervising the programs for acquisition , assignment, utilization, maintenance, repair, replacement and disposal of fleet vehicles. Fleet manager also serves as the primary contact concerning the vehicle fleet and operations. Fleet manager will make the ultimate decision whether a vehicle is safe to have on the road.
Essential Job Functions(including the following. Other duties may be assigned.)
- Direct supervision, hiring and evaluating the work of the Fleet administrator
- Responsible for deciding whether a vehicle should be purchased or disposed of.
- Inspect vehicles of potential take over fleets and provide fair market value of equipment to ownership.
- Develops and administers vehicle/equipment asset management processes from procurement to disposition.
- Create vehicle purchase specifications and purchase vehicles for all branches.
- establish and monitor purchasing, operational and replacement strategies and practices for most cost-effective operation.
- Establish and maintain vendor relationships, including cost information, for fleet maintenance and repair.
- Work closely with equipment builders on design changes on equipment.
- Develop and implement training modules for vehicles and equipment use and care.
- Ensure unit compliance with all federal, state & local laws and regulations related to vehicle repair shop operations and vehicle and mobile equipment use and care.
- Direct movement of all equipment to vendors and/or branches in a "just in time" process.
- Assist with vehicle movement when necessary.
- Monitor Trimble, Truck check and Lytx software programs.
- Work in concert with safety department to insure that accidents and Lytx incidents are handled as the company protocol dictates.
- Visit stores and check equipment condition.
- Monitor the Adam reports Truck Expense Invoices to make certain that vehicle expenses are correct.
Qualification
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty in an acceptable amount of time with an acceptable level of accuracy after completion of the training period. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and /or ability required.
Education and/or experience: HS diploma or GED at least one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, ratios , commissions and percentages.
Computer skills: Ability to use computer, experience using email,Internet/web search knowledge.
