Description
The Safe Places Site Coordinator supports the Safe Places program by managing administrative tasks, tracking meals and attendance, and ensuring the program meets organizational goals for a given location. Safe Places Site Coordinators are considered “Site Supervisors” under Michigan Child Care Licensing and are therefore responsible for the daily operation and implementation of the site program, supervision of the site staff, and overall care and supervision of children.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide participants with the appropriate leadership and supervision during the program.
- Develop and plan activities developmentally appropriate for the children's age and incorporate program goals into the daily routine.
- Assist with training and supervision of program staff.
- Provide a warm and caring atmosphere for participants.
- Maintain open communication between Safe Places staff and site personnel.
- Communicate with participants’ families through daily drop-off and pick-up.
- Maintain a safe environment for participants.
- Submit all written correspondence to the Program Director for approval prior to distribution.
- Assist in marketing and capacity-building efforts, as directed.
- Maintain records of attendance and sign-in/out sheets and turn them in to the Director every week
- Attending staff meetings.
- Maintain a positive attitude toward co-workers, the Director, Parents, and lessor.
- Maintain licensing requirements
Employees and volunteers who directly supervise consumers will:
- Adhere to policies related to boundaries with children.
- Attend required abuse risk management training.
- Adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising children.
- Report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
- Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements.
Requirements
The Safe Places Site Coordinator must be:
- At least 18 years of age
- Have at least a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent, associate's degree preferred and must have at least 480 hours (about 3 weeks) of child experience in a program serving school-age children.
- They must have completed 14 hours of documented school-age training.
- The ability to operate independently and be extremely organized are essential to this position.
- Must be able to pass a complete background check
