Position Summary: Under the general direction of the Executive Director, primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, overseeing the overall housekeeping and laundry department operations. Insuring that the facility, resident rooms, and laundry services are performed and maintained in a clean and sanitary manner.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Schedules employees weekly work schedules.
- Schedules employees daily work assignments.
- Inventories and orders housekeeping supplies.
- Schedules the rotation of weekly cleaning of resident rooms and daily cleaning of common areas and bathrooms.
- Oversees the housekeeping department staffs' ongoing job performance.
- Cleans residents' rooms and bathrooms by means of: vacuuming, mopping, disinfecting, dusting, emptying trash, making beds.
- Removes and washes resident laundry, returning clean laundry to resident.
- Cleans offices, public and employee restrooms, replenishing bathroom supplies.
- Documents completed housekeeping work as necessary.
- Transports trash and waste to disposal area.
- Notes areas or articles in need of repair and reports to maintenance, completing maintenance request forms as necessary.
- Notes the well-being or changes of residents on a daily basis and reports any changes or incidents to management.

Supervisory Responsibility:
This position supervises employees in the department and others for whom they are administratively or professionally responsible by following policies and applicable laws. Uses independent judgment and discretion on behalf of the organization in the performance of these duties.
Supervisory responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; labor management, scheduling, planning, assigning and directing work; receiving calls and finding replacements for absent staff; preparing performance evaluations; receiving and resolving employee complaints; monitoring and correcting job performance of employees; and disciplining employees up to and including discharge.
Required/Desired Qualifications:
Education, Training, and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Prior experience with hands on housekeeping or janitorial services and one year experience in a supervisory role strongly preferred.
