Description
SUMMARY
This position is full time, or five periods, of Middle School Mathematics, Courses 1 and 2.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Teaches a full-time schedule of 5 classes of middle school mathematics classes.
- Develops lessons that are focused on course standards and engage students in developing their mathematical practices, including: making sense of problems, reasoning abstractly, modeling with mathematics, looking for structure in God’s creation, and using reasoning to persevere in solving problems. Maintains high expectations for students while also taking into account individual challenges. Creates a warm and constructive classroom culture.
- Maintains accurate records of grades and lesson plans. Communicate with parents when grades drop below satisfactory standards.
- Attends school meetings, including weekly devotions and staff meetings, new teacher training, department meetings, weekly middle school meetings, and parent meetings as needed.Meets with mentor teachers as needed to learn and grow within our school's culture.
- Participates in Middle School activities, including: student small-group/community group leader; grade-level/team meetings; lunch/break supervision; periodic events outside the school day; Field Day; Learning Expedition Week (DC, CIMI, or Grand Canyon); other duties as assigned.
OTHER FUNCTIONS
- Attends other various school events as required (field day, back to school night, socials, etc.)
Requirements
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in Mathematics, Secondary Education, or related fields.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience teaching Middle school math preferred
