Salem partners with large-scale live events, professional sports leagues, experiential marketing agencies, major corporations, and event producers to deliver fully custom turnkey solutions for elevated VIP hospitality environments, brand activations, iconic signage, and more.
** We are looking for a driven Business Development Manager with strong industry relationships, active connections, and a proven track record of acquiring and expanding new client accounts.
Remote is OK if qualified.
This position includes a competitive salary (based on experience), plus a competitive commission plan.

- DIRECT Industry Experience: You have a proven track record of successfully selling complex projects with experiential marketing agencies, brand activations, professional sports leagues, or large-scale event production companies.
- PROVEN Sales Success: You have spent 5+ years successfully selling complex, end-to-end projects that encompass multiple locations, venues or cities, navigating intricate sales cycles with confidence.
- EXTENSIVE Network: This is an important one! You bring a DEEP book of contacts from marketing agencies or large-scale, multi-day event producers across North America & beyond. AND you are not afraid to pick up the phone and contact these people.
- HUNTER Mentality: This is NOT an entry level sales position. You are a proactive, outside salesperson with a proven track record of building a QUALIFIED pipeline of industry specific prospects. You are ready to build your own book of business, leveraging your network and expertise to drive outbound inquiries and establish strong client relationships.
- FOCUSED Expertise: Salem primarily works with large scale live events, professional sports leagues, experiential marketing agencies, on-site sponsor & company brand activations, trade shows, and major festivals (example: Coachella, Bonnaroo, Burning Man). Weddings, backyard parties, and county fairs are NOT our primary focus. You understand this difference.
- ENTERPRISE Level Deals: You are comfortable negotiating 6 and 7 figure deals, speaking directly with VP / C-Suite level executives, and closing major contracts.

This position would be part of our Business Development & Commercial Operation team reporting directly to the Chief Revenue Officer (CRO). Potential for multiple advancement opportunities within the organization.
Position Summary:
The Business Development Manager plays a crucial role in driving NEW profitable revenue growth for the company. This position is responsible for identifying and cultivating new business opportunities, developing strategic partnerships, and expanding relationships with existing clients to increase year-over-year revenue.
Additional Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):
- MAIN focus on new account acquisition (hunter). Build, develop and foster relationships with key decision makers, influencers, and industry partners to pursue, and win, new profitable opportunities.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing customers to expand partnerships and identify new revenue opportunities with the intent of capturing incremental year-over-year account growth.
- Work closely with CRO develop and implement comprehensive business development strategies to generate profitable revenue growth to exceed company revenue goals.
- Assess potential new markets, evaluate business opportunities, and develop strategies for targeting potential customers.
- Gather and utilize business intelligence to support sales calls, presentations and drive new business.
- Develop presentations, proposals, and formal agreements for new business opportunities.
- Work closely with management for review/approval of pricing, available capacity, and delivery logistics.
- Utilize CRM and existing resources to manage all tracking of customer and prospect sales activities.
- Provide regular reports on sales performance, market trends, and customer feedback as required.
- Monitor market trends and competitor activities to identify potential business risks and opportunities
- Work collaboratively and across the organization to drive and achieve broader company growth objectives
- Facilitate and execute turnover to project management and operations.
- With CRO approval attend customer events for the coordination of setup and take-down logistics
- Assist with post sale scope clarification, account forecasting and collections.
- Attend industry related functions as approved/assigned by CRO.
Education and Work Experience:
- College degree preferred
- Minimum 5+ years direct industry experience in a business development or sales position required
