Job Description:

Conducts safety meetings, audits, and inspections to ensure compliance, evaluate performance, identify corrective action, and implement follow up assessments.Plans, implements, and conducts preventative care, safety, and compliance training programs.Plans, implements, manages, and maintains comprehensive environmental safety & health programs on premises.Provides project management team with guidance on health and safety and confirm project site fulfills industry, local, state, and federal guidelines and regulations.Collaborates with management to update and manage existing Emergency Action Plan and serve as primary contact for project site injury and incident notification, investigation, and case management. Maintains a written log of safety inspection activities, reports, and correspondence.Guarantees that all work is performed in accordance with approved manuals, internal policies and procedures, contract documents, and good engineering practices.Provides technical support to project managers.Coordinates and monitors schedule updates, invoices, and submittals.Participates in team meetings and provides regular on-site project presence.Preferred Skills:Participate in HESS compliance and HESS Management System AuditsDevelop HESS policies, standards and procedures based on regulatory and internal requirementsManage data collection and analysis of HESS metrics and reportsManage HESS record keepingConduct HESS bench marking; internal and external to identify best practicesLead HESS projects to support best practicesBecome thoroughly familiar with ammonia plant operations and safeguards.Prepare government reports and permits/certificationsPerform root cause incident investigationsPerform job safety analysisDevelop and deliver EHS training programsLead creation and deployment of EHS communicationsSupport Workers Compensation programs and process improvements; monitor claims and partners with case managers with claim management and recommend plan of actionCollaborates with plant leadership relative to light duty opportunities and/or modified work, if available Research safety and environmental regulations and ensure complianceMaintain OSHA 300 logTier II Ammonia ReportingSMETA Audit
Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Health, Engineering or related discipline preferred 

OR

High school–equivalent education and a minimum of five years’ related experience

Minimum 4 years large scale commercial, government, or industrial project management experience, including at least 4 years management level safety profession experience

Current certifications in First Aid, CPR, OSHA, 30-hour Construction Safety and Industry Standards
