Position Summary
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will serve as a strategic and operational leader responsible for overseeing all financial functions of a growing home care and home health organization. This role requires a hands-on executive who can manage day-to-day financial operations while building scalable systems, ensuring regulatory compliance, supporting growth initiatives, and partnering with leadership to drive profitability and long-term sustainability. As a key member of the leadership team, this individual will be instrumental in guiding long-term financial planning and building a scalable financial infrastructure that supports both operational excellence and mission fulfillment.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Strategy & Leadership
- Develop and execute the company’s financial strategy aligned with growth objectives
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to the CEO, COO and leadership team
- Support expansion initiatives including new locations, service lines, and acquisitions
- Lead long-term financial planning, forecasting, budgeting and scenario modeling
- Translate financial data into actionable insights to support growth, service expansion, and sustainability.
Financial Operations & Controls
- Oversee the Accounting Manager, Billing Specialist, payroll, AP/AR, revenue cycle, bank reconciliations, and intercompany allocations.
- Ensure accurate and timely financial statements to meet GAAP and healthcare regulations.
- Establish and maintain strong internal controls and financial policies
- Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and financial risk.
Performance, Systems & Process Improvement
- Lead annual budgeting process and ongoing reforecasting
- Monitor performance against budget and explain variances
- Develop KPI dashboards specific to home care and home health operations
- Evaluate, select, and implement ERP systems and other financial tools.
- Standardize financial policies and internal controls.
Contract & Compliance Management
- Manage vendor and payer contracts, including negotiation, review, and financial analysis.
- Ensure compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, and other regulatory billing standards.
- Lead preparation for audits, licensure renewals, and financial reporting to accrediting bodies (e.g., CHAP).
Risk Management & Governance
- Manage insurance, risk exposure, and financial compliance
- Oversee tax planning, filings, and coordination with external CPA firms
- Ensure adherence to homecare and healthcare financial regulations and best practices
Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Manage and mentor a lean finance and accounting team, with an eye toward future growth.
- Collaborate with HR, Clinical, Operations, and Marketing teams to ensure financial alignment.
- Foster a culture of transparency, stewardship, shared accountability and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 7+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, including 3+ years in a direct leadership role.
- Experience in home care, home health, healthcare services, or similarly regulated environment
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, budgeting, forecasting, and healthcare payer systems.
- Proficiency in Excel and financial software (QuickBooks experience preferred).
- Ability to think strategically while managing day-to-day financial operations.
- Proven experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling.
- High integrity, strong business judgment, and a commitment to mission-driven leadership.
Preferred:
- CPA or MBA.
- Experience in high-growth or multi-location service organizations.
- Prior experience with ERP or financial systems implementation.
- Familiarity with home care/home health software and billing platforms.
