Position performs routine maintenance and custodial duties at the Delta County Fairgrounds and other County facilities as required. Position requires evening and weekend work to accommodate events scheduled at the Fairgrounds.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform maintenance, repairs and custodial duties at the Delta County Fairgrounds and other County facilities as required.
- Prepare, set-up, and tear down events scheduled at the Fairgrounds.
- Support other maintenance, custodial duties and projects as requested.
- Plow/shovel snow at the North Fork Annex and other County facilities when required.
- Maintain, repair, and operate sprinkler systems.
- Must be available to work two weeks prior to, the weeks of, and the week after Delta County Fair.
- This position requires consistent punctuality and attendance. The primary location of employment for this position is the designated Delta County location/office with the exception of duties that are performed off site as required in responsibilities. The employee is required to perform most (generally, 95%) of assigned duties from this designated location/office to allow for client, customer and coworker access and collaboration, unless prior written approval for an alternative arrangement, such as temporary remote work, has been granted by the employee's direct supervisor and/or department head and maintained in the employee personnel file.
GENERAL JOB DUTIES:
- Coordinate with Buildings and Grounds Supervisor by telephone and/or in person to exchange information and receive special work instructions.
- Perform semi-skilled interior/exterior building maintenance including painting, plumbing, electrical and other trade work.
- Clean, inspect, and perform general maintenance of restrooms, drinking fountains, house, hall, arenas, covered buildings facilities, and camping areas.
- Groom and prepare arenas based on the intended use and agreement with the event sponsor.
- Mow and maintain park area, ball fields, and open space including weed and rodent control.
- Maintain sprinkler systems and assist in the repair and installation of sprinkler lines and heads throughout the grounds.
- Service and maintain air systems when required.
- Plant, prune and maintain flowers, shrubs and trees.
- Perform routine maintenance on lawn equipment and other power equipment.
- Clean, paint, repair and/or replace picnic tables.
- Pick up trash.
- Determine projects for, and direct the work of volunteers, useful public service workers and inmate crews.
- Serve as a liaison to public and private groups in regards to Fairgrounds rules and regulations.
- Coordinate with Delta County Fair Board as necessary.
- Cooperate with supervisor, co-workers, Fair Board, and public in a professional and courteous manner.
- Perform the same general maintenance, custodial, and project support for all County properties.
- Setup, operate, use, and train others on usage of audio-visual equipment/sound/PA system and notify appropriate parties when systems are down.
- Takes initiative to suggest extraordinary projects as needed.
- Interact with the public in a cooperative atmosphere showing respect and support.
- Ensure security by maintaining safety and awareness of buildings and grounds as required.
- Complete monthly reports as required.
- Complete and submit a weekly timecard.
- Wash, maintain and operate all fairgrounds equipment including, but not limited to the tractors and implements, water truck, pickup trucks, ATV, side by side, six wheeler, black widow, scissor lift, post hole digger, lawn mower, backhoe and all miscellaneous power and hand tools.
- Perform other similar and related duties to your position within the department as assigned.
- Should the Board of County Commissioners or another authorized representative issue a local disaster declaration in Delta County, all Delta County employees may be called upon to serve as disaster service workers.
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent
Experience:
At least four (4) years of related buildings and grounds maintenance and custodial experience is required.
Licenses/Certifications:
Current and valid Colorado Driver’s License
CDL Class B License desired, but not mandatory
