Laser Operator

We are seeking a skilled Laser Operator to join our 1st Shift team. Our 1st shift operates from 7:00AM to 3:30 PM Monday through Friday for (5) eight-hour shifts with a 30-minute lunch at noon. Overtime is frequently available and sometimes required. The ideal candidate will have experience in laser operation and be able to work independently or as part of a team. Under general supervision and using industry recognized safety procedures, employees will use multiple possible laser metal cutting machine cells including tube and flat laser operations.
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Set up and operate multiple laser cells including tube, flat and 3D laser cutting operations.
- Be able to perform basic to mid-level programing changes to ensure proper machine operation and part quality.
- Handle raw materials needed for the laser cell.
- Properly package completed product from the laser cell for the next operation.
- Read technical diagrams, prints, and production specifications with a focus on applying that knowledge to the fabricated component.
- Uses various inspection tools and methods to ensure the accuracy of fabricated goods when compared to specifications.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Report to Laser Team Lead
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None
EDUCATION: High School Diploma/GED preferred. Extended education is a plus.
EXPERIENCE:
- 1+ years of experience in laser cutting operations
- Basic print reading and understanding.
- Shop floor experience - Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (face-shield, gloves etc.)
SKILLS / ABILITIES:
- Strong attention to detail
- Proficient in English
- Experience in using laser cutting cells
- Ability to make programming changes to ensure proper machine operation and part quality
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings
- Ability to use inspection tools to confirm accuracy of fabricated parts to engineering prints
- Ability to recognize standard metals and familiarity working with steel, stainless steel, aluminum, etc
- Ability to creatively consider processes and recommend improvements to bolster efficiency
- Ability to work within the confines of a standard employee handbook regarding attendance, discipline, and off-work conduct
- Ability to perform essential shop math consisting of fractions, decimals, basic algebra, and geometry
- Ability to test equipment to ensure proper functionality and confirm desired output
EQUIPMENT USED: Flat laser, Tube Laser, 3D Laser, Grinder, Swager
SOFTWARE USED: JobBoss, Work Station Driver, Laser operating software for each machine.
