CLASSIFICATION: PART-TIME HOURLY
PAY: $19.23/HR + HOUSING
WestGate Church is passionate about raising up the next generation of church leaders. As a Pastoral Resident, you will grow in your ability to do ministry within the context of a local church while intentionally deepening your spiritual formation and leadership skills. This 9-month commitment, August through May, will provide you with perspective on vocational ministry, specifically within your area of ministry emphasis, depending on your giftings, interests, and WestGate’s needs:

- NextGen: Kids
- NextGen: Students
- NextGen: College-Age
- Creative Engagement and Communication
- Community, Prayer, and Pastoral Care.
Because discernment is a key aspect of this program, your ministry focus is subject to change. This job description outlines the core responsibilities of a Pastoral Resident and will be supplemented by an addendum detailing your specific ministry emphasis. As a pastoral resident, you’ll support ministry events across all congregations, each designed to help us live into our mission of being and making disciples, daily formed into the image of Christ. This part-time role (Sunday - Thursday) may require occasional work on Fridays and Saturdays as well as evening hours.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Positive, professional, self-starter with the ability to organize, adjust, and prioritize responsibilities and projects with minimal direction.
- Maintains a high level of confidentiality, handling situations with discretion, diplomacy, and tact.
- Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects simultaneously with excellent time management and attention to detail.
- Proficient with basic computer applications, including Google Workspace and Planning Center, with the ability to learn new software quickly.
- Prior ministry experience preferred, whether volunteer or vocational.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Superior communication skills, written and verbal.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Attend all scheduled residency meetings, events, and program times.
- Provide flexible support for your ministry area as assigned, contributing to a wide range of tasks and responsibilities.
- Engage actively with residency material through reading and spiritual practices as assigned.
- Participate in and serve at all-church events, such as but not limited to Christmas and Easter services, All-Church Prayer Nights, and Conferences.

- Operate in a professional office or church environment with standard equipment like computers, printers, filing cabinets, and telephones.
- Lead in settings with various equipment, cables, stage lights, loud sounds, and visual stimuli.
- Work typically occurs Sunday-Thursday, with occasional Fridays, Saturdays, or evenings as needed.
