The Wholesale Sales Specialist (CSS) is a revenue-driven role focused on growing commercial sales through exceptional relationship-based selling. This position serves as the primary sales partner for wholesale customers, building long-term loyalty by delivering expert product knowledge, proactive solutions, and a seamless buying experience. As a trusted advisor and brand ambassador, the Wholesale Sales Specialist consistently represents company values while driving repeat business and exceeding customer expectations.
Sales Performance & Customer Growth
• Drive wholesale sales growth and achieve company performance goals, including wholesale revenue, direct ship sales, customer capture rate, and shrink control.
• Own and grow a portfolio of wholesale customers by developing strong, trust-based relationships.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for wholesale customers, acting as a knowledgeable consultant and solution provider.
• Proactively ask open-ended, discovery-based questions to understand customer needs and recommend products and solutions that increase basket size and repeat purchases.
• Identify opportunities to upsell, cross-sell, and introduce new products or programs that add value to the customer’s business.
• Deliver an exceptional, consistent customer experience across all departments, with a strong focus on wholesale accounts.
Brand Representation & Professional Standards
• Represent company values through confident, professional, and service-oriented communication with customers and team members.
• Act as a brand ambassador by building credibility, trust, and long-term partnerships with wholesale customers.

Merchandising & Sales Environment
• Ensure the wholesale department is visually compelling, well-stocked, and sales-ready at all times.
• Execute merchandising strategies that support selling, including seasonal transitions, product presentation, hold areas, and hotlist priorities.
• Plan and organize sales-focused work for others to ensure continuity of customer service and selling coverage.
Collaboration & Sales Enablement
• Support training of wholesale department staff on product knowledge, features, benefits, and selling techniques.
• Collaborate closely with the buying team, Operations, and Store Management to ensure product availability, timely customer pickups, and high quality standards.
• Leverage company communication tools to stay informed on product availability, promotions, shipments, and sales opportunities.
Operational & Inventory Support (Sales-Focused)
• Support inventory accuracy and product availability through participation in cycle counts, plant inventories, and annual physical inventories.
• Partner with Operations to minimize barriers to selling, including product flow issues and customer fulfillment delays.
• Follow all company policies, safety standards, and operational procedures.
Scheduling & Store Support
• Maintain flexibility to support customer needs during peak selling times, including mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and seasonal peaks.
• Provide POS support, sales floor coverage, carry-outs, and other customer-focused duties as needed.
• Seasonal overtime may be required to support business demand.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Minimum of 2 years of sales or customer-facing experience, preferably in a relationship-based or wholesale sales environment.
• Intermediate plant and gardening knowledge with emphasis on trees, shrubs, and perennials.
• Knowledge of wholesale landscape products, including plant material and hard goods.
• Basic landscape design or project-based selling experience preferred.
• Strong sales, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and stay focused in a fast-paced, customer-driven environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• POS and cash register experience required.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and perform physical work related to product handling and customer support.
• Ability to safely operate heavy equipment.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Availability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and peak seasonal periods.
