Job Summary

This is a newly created Staff Accountant role with a blend of traditional accounting responsibilities and systems design involvement. The person in this role has the unique opportunity to help build and shape a core accounting system used by both the company and its customers. 

Our Staff Accountant will play a key role in building, implementing, and maintaining QT9’s next-generation integrated accounting system within our proprietary ES software platform.

You will help migrate the company off QuickBooks Online and into a fully integrated accounting environment, ensuring the system is accurate, scalable, and fully compliant with GAAP. This role will immediately own the day-to-day accounting operations for QT9 Software while concurrently helping design, implement, and refine the new integrated accounting system to ensure accuracy, scalability, and GAAP compliance.

This role requires someone who is comfortable working independently, but who also enjoys collaborating with engineering, product, and leadership teams. This position reports directly to the Director of Finance.

Duties

Accounting System Design and Implementation

• Assist in the design, setup, and quality control of integrated accounting functionality within QT9’s ES software
• Partner with internal teams to migrate financial data and processes from QuickBooks Online into ES
• Help define workflows, controls, and accounting logic to ensure accuracy and GAAP compliance
• Participate in testing, validation, and ongoing refinement of the integrated accounting system
• Document processes and provide feedback to improve usability and reliability

Core Accounting Operations

• Own the month-end close process, including journal entries, accruals, and prepaid expenses
• Perform bank reconciliations and balance sheet account reconciliations
• Maintain accurate general ledger activity and supporting schedules
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies
• Support financial reporting and ad hoc analysis as needed

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
• 5+ years of related experience.
• Experience in a SaaS or software-based company preferred
• Prior experience migrating accounting systems or implementing new accounting platforms strongly preferred
• Experience reviewing, auditing, or supporting newly implemented accounting software a plus
• Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting best practices
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Comfortable working independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams
