Job Description
Scrap Metal buyer to seek new suppliers for Nonferrous and Ferrous materials. Must have strong negotiation skills to negotiate pricing for the procurement and delivery of material.
- Identify, develop, and maintain relationships with new and existing suppliers.
- Develop new sources for industrial producers, dealers, and other businesses.
- Conduct cold calls
- Relationship building to expand the supplier base
- Inspect materials in the field and at plant. Verify metal grades, specifications and quality. Ensure all purchases meet company, environmental, and industry standards.
- Follow up and take care of supplier
- Follow company and regulatory policies on safety and environmental standards.
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, terms, and volumes with vendors to ensure profitability.
- Stay informed about global and domestic metal markets, forecast demands, chain disruptions, and regulatory changes affecting metals.
Qualifications
- Experience in the Recycling and Scrap Metal industry, background in sales and procurement; or similar.
- Strong knowledge of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Have an in depth understanding of metal types, grades, processing, and specifications.
- Strong negotiation and Sales skills
- Computer, verbal communication, and written skills
- Bilingual a plus, not required
