The Department of Classics at Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas, invites applications for an open-rank, tenure-track position to begin in August 2026.
The successful applicant will be able to teach Latin and Greek at all levels, and will also be comfortable teaching one or more courses in Benedictine’s great books program.
Our department offers multiple advanced Latin classes and an advanced Greek class every semester. Our Latin program combines a rigorous analytical approach, with a strong component of the natural method and active spoken Latin.
The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about helping to grow our catalogue of Classics course offerings within the traditional bounds of the discipline as well as in late antique and medieval authors and texts, and will have a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching, advising, service, and engagement in the life of the college.
Ph.D. in Classics or related discipline required. Doctoral candidates with a clear timeline for completion of degree requirements will be considered.
