Position Summary:
CREA is seeking an experienced IT Operations and Infrastructure Leader to provide strategic direction and leadership for our IT and infrastructure engineering teams. This role will partner closely with Software Engineering, Information Technology, and key business stakeholders to strengthen technology operations, modernize infrastructure, and support CREA’s continued growth and mission-driven work in affordable housing. This leader will play a pivotal role in CREA’s cloud transformation, with primary responsibility for the design, implementation, and ongoing management of our Azure-based cloud environment. The role will establish and enforce best practices across cloud operations, security, and scalability, including Azure Landing Zone architecture, Microsoft 365 services, and network security frameworks.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Partners with the CIO to define and execute the overall IT strategy for I&T projects.
- Collaborates with software developers to support database design, optimization, and performance.
- Implements and continuously improves DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines and automation.
- Evaluates and adopts emerging Azure technologies and industry best practices.
- Leads, manages, and develops IT and hybrid infrastructure systems engineering teams.
- Oversees the organization’s Azure cloud operations to ensure performance, security, reliability, and scalability.
- Partners with cross-functional teams to design and implement cloud solutions aligned with business objectives.
- Establishes and enforces best practices for cloud security, cost optimization, governance, and performance management.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred
- 8–12 years of technology leadership experience supporting enterprise infrastructure within heterogeneous environments (Windows, Linux, SQL)
- Experience managing and leading IT and hybrid infrastructure systems
- Demonstrated experience with Active Directory, networking, and information security
- 7+ years of recent experience with Azure cloud platforms, DevOps, Microsoft 365, and infrastructure automation
- Proven ability to ensure robust network security and regulatory compliance within Azure environments
- Experience in monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimizing hybrid IT infrastructure for performance, reliability, and cost efficiency
- Experience supporting Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, and SQL Server on Azure Virtual Machines
- Experience supporting Power BI environments and data integrations
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to partner effectively with senior leadership and cross-functional teams
- Experience managing and forecasting IT budgets
- Azure Fundamentals, Associate-level, or Expert-level Azure certification is preferred

Compensation
The compensation offered will be determined by factors such as education, qualifications, relevant experience, and geographic location. The salary range for this position is as follows: Boston, MA: $167,500 – $217,000
