Position Title: Staff Accountant
Summary: This a dynamic role in a growing business where we have fun and wear many hats. Staff Accountant with 2–4 years of hands-on experience in small business accounting (under 50 employees). The Staff Accountant will support the finance and accounting department by performing key accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial data, and assisting with month-end and year-end processes. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting professional with solid experience in general ledger accounting, reconciliations, financial reporting and payroll process.
Essential Functions of the Job:
- Integral member of the local mill leadership team.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information.
- Prepare and post journal entries and assist with the month-end, quarterly and year-end close process.
- Maintain General Ledger and ensure entries are accurate and properly categorized.
- Prepare financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow summaries.
- Maintain organized digital and physical financial records.
- Record daily financial transactions, including sales, receipts, payments and invoices.
- Reconcile bank statements, credit card accounts, and other financial accounts.
- Manage basic accounts payable and accounts receivable activities.
- Assist with budgeting, variance analysis, and financial forecasting.
- Assist in payroll preparation and processing payroll.
- Assist in maintaining payroll records and support compliance with labor and tax regulations.
- Assist with implementing bookkeeping best practices and improving financial workflows.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Associates degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 2–4 years of relevant accounting experience.
- Strong understanding of basic accounting principals.
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks and advanced Microsoft Excel skills).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Work Environment
Full-time position reporting to the President/CEO. Strong team collaboration is expected along with the ability to work independently on assigned tasks.
Salary: $50,000–$60,000 per year, based on experience.
