Job Summary: 

A pastor/shepherd who will lead and supervise all aspects of the Worship and Broadcast ministries to help Green Acres Baptist Church (GABC) fulfill its vision of “Transforming Lives with the Truth of Jesus Christ.”

 

Supervisory Responsibilities: 

  • Supervise the recruiting, training, and work of leadership needed for the church worship ministry, including grade-level choir directors, instrumental directors, worship leaders, sponsors, and accompanists for the church and its various ministries.
  • Plan and direct corporate worship services for the church. Develop plans for improving congregational engagement in all services and departments; assist the Lead Pastor in planning, conducting, and evaluating the worship services of the church; and advise church members on music in the home, weddings, funerals, and special ministries of the church.
  • Collaborate with GABC staff and ministry volunteers to develop music leadership; give guidance to music used in all church ministries; and participate in the visitation ministry of the church.
  • Meet with the GABC Executive Staff to discuss, plan, and coordinate ministries that affect the overall church body.
  • Supervise and direct the development and implementation of a program designed to involve GABC in communicating the gospel through various media outlets.
  • Supervise the Broadcast ministry and provide direction, vision, and promote leadership among the Broadcast ministry personnel.
  • Supervise the Broadcast ministry in such administrative duties as: annual budget, purchase of equipment and supplies, personnel, maintenance, church policies, committees, and related functions, and development of volunteer leadership.
  • Meet weekly with the Broadcast ministry staff to plan, coordinate, and develop the ministries of the department, including sound, lighting, and television.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Report to Lead Pastor for the development and promotion of a comprehensive church music program in all areas of church life.
  • Coordinate the worship ministry with the ministries’ emphases of the church.
  • Plan, organize, direct, and promote a year-round grade-level music program for the entire church. Such program will include, but not be limited to, vocals and instrumental ensembles.
  • Request from the church through established channels needed resources (personnel, time, space, equipment, finances, materials, and music).
  • Perform and/or assign such administrative duties as are required, including the following:
  1. Keep appropriate records.
  2. Prepare and submit an annual worship ministry budget to the Finance Committee and operate the worship ministry program within the limitations of the annual budget.
  3. Purchase music equipment and supplies according to the budget and policies of the church.
  4. Supervise maintenance and use of the music library, musical instruments.
  5. Implement church-approved policies and oversee worship ministry and broadcast personnel.
  6. Give direction to a worship ministry discipleship program that includes both regular and prospective members for various activities in the worship ministry.
  • Stay up to date with developments in the field of worship leadership.
  • Work to ensure the Worship and Broadcast ministries align with the GABC vision statement.
  • As an ordained minister of the gospel, he is legally qualified to perform wedding ceremonies and will assist with other pastoral duties as assigned by the Lead Pastor. Such duties will include hospital visitation, funerals, and counseling.
  • Accept other duties as assigned by the Lead Pastor.

Requirements

Required Skills/Abilities:

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Ordained minister.
  • Master’s degree in music or theology.
  • 5+ years’ experience leading a worship ministry.
  • Experience with technical aspects of contemporary services: for example, sound boards, theater lights, video editing, etc.—a plus.
  • Possess ability in a wide range of styles, including Christian classics (hymns), but with a focus on contemporary music.
  • Professional quality keyboard or guitar player.
  • Experience composing, arranging, writing, and sequencing music.
  • Experience producing and directing special events, musicals, and programs.


Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of standing, directing musicians.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to travel.
  • Must be able to use hands and feet to lead, direct music.
  • Must be able to see, hear, speak, and write.
