Industrial Engineer
Description

  The employee will lead cross-functional teams and project managers to optimize cell design, plant flow, individual work cells and manage projects to minimize waste and maximize utilization of resources.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Cell design/layout and optimization:

  • Works with production to optimize part families based on forecast      load and process within production cells
  • Works with automation engineering team on unattended plan for      existing product families 
  • Works with programming and process engineering teams on load      balancing, workholding to optimize takt time
  • Works with other departments to develop design and production      standards to meet price, inventory, throughput and utilization targets

Plant flow optimization:

  • Optimizes lot sizing for flow and customer demand cadence to      maximize throughput at minimal cost
  • Prepares inventory analysis to ID optimal build sizes and safety      stock to order volatility
  • Works with production planner to set targets for production      schedules and coordinate services to maximize productivity
  • Collaborate with supply chain and production to solve variability      on input material and part handling opportunities

For individual work cells:

  • Works with production and engineering to design efficient      production processes and workflows
  • Monitors operations with an eye toward improving utilization,      productivity and efficiency
  • Implements controls to monitor costs and minimize production issues
  • Ensures that processes are designed to ensure that products meet      quality standards.
  • Reduces waste and addresses production issues
  • Utilizes Vimana and tool monitoring and management to identify      areas of opportunity to minimize production losses

Project management:

  • Coordinates cross-functional Dynamic Continuous Improvement teams      to assign focus, monitor progress
  • Assists Continuous Improvement team with projects as needed
  • Completes and coordinates time studies as needed
  • Works with Quality Continuous Improvement on process variability,      cost of poor quality, and scrap
  • Coordinates cross-functional Kaizen events to involve wide ranging      perspectives in process improvement
  • Coordinates widespread implementation of successes from pilot cells      and areas
  • Works with account management, process planner, manufacturing      teams, and engineering
  • Identifies training gaps and mentors team leaders in foundations of      Lean & Wastes

Key Roles

· Evaluates current manufacturing practices and identify those needing improvement

· Minimizes losses within each production process

· Identifies procedures and tools to improve productivity

· Optimizes processes to minimize inventory

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Prior experience in a manufacturing environment and understanding of quality systems, preferably in aircraft manufacturing,      is required. A Bachelors’ Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related Engineering field, or equivalent experience, is recommended.  Computer aided drafting (CAD), Microsoft Project and Office literacy, strong computer skills, prior experience with customer resource management systems, and a strong mechanical aptitude is preferred.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • The employee must possess the ability to communicate effectively with all internal personnel and external customers in both written and oral form.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is frequently loud when on the production floor. Travel is required when necessary.
