Summary

The Die Technician I supports the die shop in preparing, maintaining, and inspecting aluminum extrusion dies and tooling components. This entry-level position assists with the cleaning, assembly, polishing, inspection, and correction of dies to ensure production efficiency and extrusion quality standards are met.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Disassemble, clean, and reassemble extrusion dies using hand tools, grinders, and presses.

· Inspect die components for wear, cracks, and defects; report findings to lead technicians or supervisors.

· Polish bearing surfaces to required specifications to improve extrusion flow and surface finish.

· Assist in labeling, logging, and storing dies according to company procedures.

· Support die correction and setup activities by ensuring tooling is prepared and delivered to presses on schedule.

· Follow work instructions, blueprints, and shop drawings as directed.

· Maintain cleanliness and organization of work benches, tools, and surrounding work area.

· Adhere to all company safety, quality, and housekeeping standards.

· Perform additional duties as assigned by the Die Shop Supervisor or senior technicians.

Skills and Qualifications

· Basic mechanical aptitude and hand tool experience required.

· Ability to read and follow detailed instructions and technical drawings.

· Strong attention to detail and quality.

· Good communication and teamwork skills.

· Must be safety-conscious and dependable.

Education and Experience

· High School Diploma or GED required.

· 1–2 years of experience in a manufacturing, tooling, or machine shop environment preferred.

· Training in machining, welding, or mechanical assembly a plus.

Physical Requirements

· Must be able to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.

· Frequent lifting, pushing, and pulling of up to 50 lbs.

· Regular bending, stooping, reaching, and use of hand tools.

· Tolerance to heat, noise, and aluminum dust typical of a production environment.

Work Environment

· Indoor manufacturing and tooling environment.

· Requires use of PPE such as safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection.

· Typically assigned to day shift but may require Saturdays as production needs arise.
