GENERAL
· Evaluate all patients admitted to the ICU and provide bedside consultation when consulted by physicians.
· Provide a comprehensive assessment and plan for management in written or dictated form on evaluated patients.
· Mandatory use of our electronic billing software system for each applicable patient encounter. Failure to do so may result in a delay of compensation.
· Compliance with key critical care initiatives such as surviving sepsis protocols and core measure initiative (CHF, Pneumonia, Acute coronary syndrome, etc.)
· Conduct multidisciplinary rounds with ICU management team making specific mention of treatment plan and patient disposition/discharge plan.
· Proficiency in central line and arterial line placement, beside ultrasonography for line placement, endotracheal intubation and other pertinent procedures.
· Develops collaborative relationships with primary, consulting, & referring physicians, facility leadership, and clinical ancillary staff and facilitates their interactions with the Intensivist.
· Compliance with medical records completion within guidelines.
LEADERSHIP
· Practices with a team-model in the ICU when providing close communication with the nursing and ancillary staff, addressing their concerns and maintaining a positive ICU working environment.
· Communicates regularly with primary care and consulting physicians and mainstreams the patient care plan.
· Serving as a role model for clinical practice and referral acceptance.
· Helping to orient new Intensivist.
CLINICAL
· Accept patient referrals and coordinate all aspects of care for ICU patients referred by medical staff members, primary care physicians, surgeons and consultants.
· Appropriate placement/triage within the Hospital and to the ICU (i.e. screening inappropriate ICU admissions and timely discharging stable patient from the ICU.
· Regularly updating patients and their family members and provide supportive and compassionate care.
· Discussion of end-of-life preferences with the patient and/ or the patient’s legal representative.
· Consults with other sub-specialists and maintain a positive co-management model for patient care.
· Practiced within the guidelines of evidence-based medicine considering the cost of healthcare utilization and risk-benefit of procedures or therapeutic modalities.
· Compliance with Hospital based clinical guidelines/ initiatives.
· Compliance with timely placement of Central Venous catheters and perform all procedures with strict sterile barrier precautions.
· Compliance with ventilator bundle and daily spontaneous breathing trial (SBT) on appropriate patients.
· Be available and respond to provide evaluation and management of unassigned and subscriber medical patients as requested.
· Provide leadership in the development and implementation of standing orders, clinical protocols, and other clinical effectiveness projects;
· Collaborate with the Hospital’s Case Management department in maintaining effective utilization and resource management, medical record appropriateness and medical necessity, and proactive discharge planning.
· Maintain a minimum 85% for CPOE compliance rate.
CITIZENSHIP
· Maintain legible, accurate, complete, and timely medical records with respect to all patients examined or treated in accordance with all legal, accreditation, regulatory and third-party payor requirements.
· Comply with all medical staff bylaws, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and protocols, and Hospital bylaws, rules and regulations, policies, procedures, and protocols, as such currently exist or are hereinafter amended.
· Participate as a provider of medical services with third-party payors, including, without limitation, any HMO or PPO, with which facility contracts.
· Comply with all applicable federal, state, and local statutes, regulations, and other legal requirements as well as any accreditation standards related to Hospital and its Program.
· Perform such other services as are reasonably assigned by the Program’s Service’s leadership.
· Conduct self in a manner consistent with and that promotes, Hospital’s Mission and Values at all times.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
· Maintain current MD/DO licensure.
· Maintain Board Certification.
· Remain an active member of the medical staff in good standing.
· Perform other job duties as assigned.
