Director of Respiratory Therapy – Vent Unit
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Director of Respiratory Therapy to lead our vent unit team within a skilled nursing facility. Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and coordinate respiratory therapy services for patients on ventilators and other respiratory support devices within the skilled nursing facility.
- Supervise and mentor respiratory therapy staff, ensuring adherence to clinical protocols, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and implement respiratory care plans tailored to individual patient needs in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans accordingly, ensuring optimal respiratory health outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations related to respiratory therapy and patient safety.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient care activities and therapy outcomes.
- Provide education and training to staff and patients regarding respiratory therapies and equipment.
- Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance respiratory care services and patient satisfaction.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy or a related healthcare field; advanced degree preferred.
- Current state licensure and certification as a Respiratory Therapist.
- Proven experience in respiratory therapy, with a minimum of 3-5 years in a clinical setting, including leadership roles.
- Strong knowledge of ventilator management, respiratory equipment, and clinical best practices.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements for skilled nursing facilities.
