Program Duration: 8 weeks (Monday, June 15, 2026 – Thursday, August 13, 2026)
Compensation: $30 per hour (Part-time, 32 hours/week)

Position Summary
The Hamilton Zanze Summer Legal Internship is an eight-week, part-time internship designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of real estate law and private equity transactions. Interns will gain hands-on exposure to key legal processes, including contract drafting, compliance, due diligence, and transaction management.
Through mentorship, structured learning, and real-world legal projects, interns will develop analytical and research skills while working closely with experienced in-house legal professionals. The program will conclude with a final presentation, where the Legal Intern will showcase key learnings alongside other summer interns to Hamilton Zanze leadership.
Program Structure & Learning Objectives:
Legal Documentation & Compliance
Focus: Drafting, reviewing, and understanding legal agreements in real estate transactions. Interns will gain experience in:
- Analyzing purchase agreements, leases, financing documents, and regulatory filings.
- Researching real estate laws, regulations, and compliance standards.
- Assisting in contract negotiations and legal risk assessments.
Transaction Management & Due Diligence
Focus: Understanding the legal complexities of real estate transactions. Interns will be introduced to:
- The due diligence process, including title reviews and risk mitigation.
- Steps involved in closing real estate transactions and post-closing documentation.
- Coordination with various internal departments and external legal teams.
Litigation, Dispute Resolution & Special Topics
Focus: Exposure to legal challenges within real estate investments. Interns will develop an understanding of:
- Litigation processes, common real estate disputes, and case law research.
- Mediation and arbitration procedures in real estate law.
- Special topics such as environmental law, tax implications in real estate transactions, and regulatory compliance.
Final Project & Presentation
Objective: Synthesize learning into a final presentation. Interns will:
- Select a legal research topic or case study based on their experiences.
- Present their findings and strategic recommendations to the Hamilton Zanze team.
- Participate in a roundtable discussion with legal mentors and department heads for feedback.
Eligibility & Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in an accredited law school (1L or 2L preferred).
- Prior experience not required, but preferred strong interest in real estate law and private equity transactions.
- Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a professional environment.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
