The Commercial Loan Officer III is an experienced lender with a proven ability to develop and manage a diverse commercial loan portfolio. This position requires advanced credit underwriting skills, the ability to negotiate complex loan structures, and proactive business development efforts. The role involves mentoring junior lenders, identifying growth opportunities, and collaborating with internal and external partners to drive success.

Specific duties and responsibilities:
- Exhibits advanced knowledge, skills, and abilities, taking on highly complex tasks.
- Consistently delivers high-quality customer service, both internally and externally. Serves as a trusted advisor to key clients and high-value prospects, representing the bank’s leadership and values.
- Develops and executes strategies to acquire high-value clients and expand existing relationships, driving notable loan and deposit growth.
- Leads by example in cross-selling efforts and actively engages in community involvement to strengthen business development efforts.
- Exceeds growth and loan quality targets, contributing to the bank’s overall financial success.
- Handles complex commercial loan structures, exercising credit authority within defined authority levels.
- Oversee credit reviews and periodic analysis for large or high-risk accounts, proactively addressing potential issues.
- Mentors junior and intermediate CLOs, providing coaching and feedback to support their development.
- Ensures full compliance with all applicable regulations, taking ownership of regulatory requirements for loans in their portfolio.
- Actively participates in meetings, bringing insights and contributing to process improvements.
- Completes additional tasks assigned to support the lending team and bank operations.
- Demonstrates the organizational values everyday to support the Bank’s mission and vision.
- Supports local communities through volunteerism.
Skills and abilities required:
- Strong underwriting skills, managing complex commercial loans and effectively mitigating risk independently. In-depth knowledge of regulatory and compliance laws.
- Independently develops and manages a client portfolio, consistently meeting sales goals and driving new business growth.
- Strong knowledge of bank products and services, identifies cross-selling opportunities and aligns solutions with client needs.
- Crafts compelling proposals, presents to executive leadership or clients, and seamlessly coordinates large deals.
- Serves as a trusted advisor to clients, offering insights and sound financial guidance.
- Fosters a team environment and mentors junior officers, leads team initiatives, and helps shape department strategies.
- Manages high-volume, high-impact portfolios with precision and accuracy.
- Embodies leadership, representing the bank at industry events and community engagements.
- Meets established attendance and punctuality standards.
- Able to work scheduled hours on a regular basis, including occasional overtime or schedule adjustments as needed.
Education, training and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, economics, or a related field preferred; equivalent work experience in commercial lending may be considered.
- Strong oral, written, and telephone communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other standard office applications.
- Experience interpreting and analyzing business financial statements.
- 5-10 years of experience in commercial credit relationship management.
- Proven ability to assess complex risk factors in commercial credit requests.
- Demonstrated success in retaining and growing a portfolio of commercial clients.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop junior commercial banking staff.
