$75,000-$92,000 per year, depending on experience
Position Summary
We are seeking a senior-level Accounting Manager to lead our accounting operations and serve as a key partner to the Controller. This role is designed for an experienced corporate accounting professional who is ready to take ownership of core financial functions and grow into the Controller position over time.
You will oversee financial reporting, compliance, cash management, and accounting operations while strengthening internal controls, developing team members, and supporting strategic decision-making. This is a hands-on leadership role with clear visibility across the organization.
Responsibilities
Financial Oversight & Reporting
- Assist with monthly and year-end close processes, ensuring timely, accurate financial statements.
- Oversee cash management, bank activity, and payment controls to safeguard company assets.
- Review reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reports to maintain strong accounting integrity.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with corporate income tax, sales tax (multi-state), unclaimed funds, and regulatory requirements.
- Partner with external auditors and advisors to support audits and tax filings.
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls across accounting operations.
Customer Accounts & Billing Oversight
- Oversee the management of customer accounts, billing, and invoicing to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and strong internal controls.
- Provide leadership and guidance on complex billing matters, account adjustments, and customer-related financial inquiries.
- Monitor accounts receivable activity and support effective collections practices to maintain healthy cash flow.
- Partner with internal teams to improve billing processes, documentation, and customer account support.
Operational Leadership
- Oversee accounts payable and royalty processing with a focus on accuracy and accountability.
- Supervise and develop accounting and account services team members, fostering a culture of ownership and continuous improvement.
- Serve as a hands-on leader and escalation point for complex accounting matters.
Systems & Continuous Improvement
- Partner with leadership to enhance financial systems, reporting capabilities, and workflows.
- Improve close processes and documentation to support scalability and long-term growth.
- Contribute to broader finance and operational initiatives as a strategic partner.
What You Bring
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5+ years of progressive corporate accounting experience, including supervisory responsibility.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, and multi-state sales tax compliance.
- Experience contributing to month-end and year-end close processes in a private company environment.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and develop staff while maintaining high standards of accuracy and accountability.
- Experience partnering with tax advisors.
- Strong analytical skills and the confidence to provide clear financial insights to senior leadership.
- Systems mindset with experience improving processes and leveraging financial software tools.
- High integrity, sound judgment, and a proactive leadership style.
