The Guidance Center (TGC) is the Community Mental Health Center and Certified Behavioral Health Clinic serving Leavenworth, Atchison, and Jefferson counties in Kansas. We provide high-quality care to all individuals, regardless of their financial circumstances. The Guidance Center (TGC) is currently seeking a Summer Attendant to be the newest member of our innovative interdisciplinary team. This position is a temporary position during the months of May – August to assist in promoting successful group interactions among clients participating in youth or early childhood psychosocial groups. Summer Attendants will co-facilitate and assist the Group Leader with presenting curriculum to clients, monitor behavior, and complete daily progress notes in the center’s Electronic Medical Record (EMR). 


Pay

  • Competitive hourly compensation of $20.28 to $22.76, depending upon qualifications 

Primary Duties: 

  1. Assist with promoting successful group interactions among consumers. 
  2. Encourage and support clients’ engagement in psychosocial activities. 
  3. Encourage and support clients’ efforts to effectively problem-solve and interactions with others. 
  4. Work respectfully and supportively with clients’ parents/caregivers, while observing appropriate boundaries 
  5. Facilitate/co-facilitate groups as assigned.   
  6. Serve as Transportation Attendant on transportation routes for pick up, drop off, and activity routes. Maintain appropriate and accurate bus rosters for assigned routes. 
  7. Provide documentation (clinical notes, reports, and other professional products) which complies with TGC’s Quality Improvement standards and the requirements of all funding sources. 
  8. Be able to manage time to meet Daily Event Record, progress note timeliness and Center requirements. 
  9. Adapt to changing work priorities and a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism.   
  10. Meet supervision requirements and expectations as determined with immediate supervisor. 

EDUCATION: 

High school graduate or GED required.  Must have completed one year of college course work  

in the field of human services, or have one year of experience in the field of human services, or  

one year combination of education and work experience in the field of human services  

EXPERIENCE: 

Required:  at least 6 months experience working with individuals in the community. Experience gained through practicum experience or volunteer work can be included.    

Preferred:  experience working with individuals with mental health issues.
