The Emma L. Bowen Community Service Center is seeking a Bilingual Nurse Practitioner to join our team. This position is a terrific opportunity for someone to gain additional experience and make a difference in the lives of our clients.

For over 45 forty-five years, our organization has provided mental health and holistic services in northern Manhattan for families, children, adolescents, and other adults including the elderly in a supportive and caring environment. We also have an out-patient and residential substance abuse program as well as a Therapeutic Preschool for 3-5 year olds.

                                                                                               JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Bilingual Nurse Practitioner

Location: Addictive Treatment Services

Hours:  Part-time


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· As a member of a multi-disciplinary treatment team, and under the supervision of a psychiatrist (if required), the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will provide advanced psychiatric nursing care within an integrated outpatient program requiring Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) participation and interdisciplinary collaboration.

· Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and ongoing medication management for adults and adolescents enrolled in services.

· Prescribe and manage psychiatric medications, including Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) for substance use disorders (e.g., buprenorphine, naltrexone, and other approved pharmacotherapies), in alignment with program requirements and regulatory standards.

· Provide education to clients regarding risks, benefits, and alternatives of MAT and psychiatric medications, and document informed consent.

· Participate in required weekly case conferences and contribute clinical input and collaborating on treatment planning.

· Review and sign required clinical documentation in accordance with OASAS, OMH, and agency standards.

· Ensure documentation is completed in a timely manner and meets regulatory compliance standards, including medication notes, lab reviews, and clinical updates.

· Order, interpret, and evaluate laboratory testing related to psychiatric and MAT treatment (e.g., toxicology screens, CMP, CBC, Hepatitis panels, etc.).

· Provide crisis assessment and intervention when clinically indicated.

· Coordinate care with counselors, nursing staff, primary care providers, and external providers to support integrated treatment.

Requirements

 
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements: 

  • NY State Medicaid/Medicare License
  • Master’s degree in nursing from an accredited nurse practitioner program is required.
  • Currently licensed in New York State as a psychiatric nurse practitioner.
  • Active DEA Number (NYS)
  • Experience working with children and adults.
  • Bilingual English Spanish required.
  • Ability to come into the office to complete evaluations for clients prescribed controlled substances.
  • Must have Certified Board Psychiatrist
