Description

 Telit is seeking a highly skilled and industry experienced Field Applications Engineer (FAE) to support pre-sales activities and lead customer implementations of our deviceWISE Edge, deviceWISE Cloud, and AI/Visual Inspection solutions. This role blends customer-facing solution engineering with hands-on integration, configuration, and commissioning work across industrial automation, connected machines, and AI-driven manufacturing quality solutions.

FAEs play a critical role in helping customers achieve value quickly designing solutions, building proofs of concept, deploying integrations, and enabling customer teams to scale across plants and enterprise operations.


Pre-Sales Engineering & Customer Engagement

  • Partner with Sales to design and deliver high-impact demos, PoCs, and technical workshops.
  • Translate customer use cases into solution architectures leveraging deviceWISE, Visual Inspection, AI pipelines, SPC integration, and cloud/edge orchestration.
  • Present technical capabilities to engineering, IT/OT, and executive stakeholders with clarity and confidence.

Professional Services & Implementation

  • Lead customer onboarding, solution configuration, edge connectivity setup, logic development, and AI model integration.
  • Implement workflows for PLC connectivity, machine data collection, quality use cases, and enterprise integrations.
  • Configure and tune deviceWISE logic, tags, triggers, Visual Inspection test flows, and dashboards.
  • Support scale-out deployments across multiple production lines, stations, and plants.

Technical Support & Problem Resolution

  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues in customer environments (edge, gateways, cloud, AI models).
  • Analyze logs, workflows, network paths, and configurations to identify root causes.
  • Escalate critical issues to R&D with clear documentation and reproduction steps.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work with Product Management and Engineering to validate new features, provide customer feedback, and test pre-release builds.
  • Contribute to internal knowledge bases, best-practice guides, and implementation playbooks.
  • Enable partners, system integrators, and customer engineering teams through training and documentation.

Travel & Availability

  • Travel as needed for customer onsite work (implementations, PoCs, troubleshooting). Typically, 40-60%+
  • Occasional after-hours or weekend support for critical activities during cutovers or production events.

Primary Technical Requirements

  • SCADA, HMI, MES, or similar plant automation software background
  • Experience with industrial protocols: OPC UA, Modbus, Ethernet/IP, S7, Serial.
  • Hands-on experience with PLCs (Siemens, Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi, Omron, etc.).
  • Windows and Linux proficiency: basic command line, system diagnostics, and shell scripting.
  • SQL and general database experience (queries, schema understanding).
  • Experience in one or more of the following industries: Oil, Gas & Energy; Manufacturing in Automotive, Heavy Machinery, Food & Beverage, Life Sciences, Medical Devices or Pharmaceutical
  • Experience diagnosing and solving software/configuration issues in industrial or IIoT environments.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Experience

  • Exposure to AI/ML manufacturing solutions—especially visual inspection, defect detection, SPC integration.
  • DeviceWISE logic programming, scripting languages (Python preferred), or automation logic.
  • Experience with Jira or similar systems for tickets, sprint tracking, and agile processes.
  • Understanding of logic flows, debugging methodology, and structured programming concepts.
  • Familiarity with APIs, REST interfaces, MQTT/OPC-UA messaging, and data pipelines.

Qualifications

  • 2–6 years in Field Applications Engineering, Controls Engineering, SCADA/IIoT integration, or similar technical roles.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field preferred.
  • Equivalent professional experience in industrial automation or IIoT ecosystems acceptable.
