RMHC Triangle offers eight programs in Raleigh, Durham & Chapel Hill that support seriously ill children and their families, including three residential Ronald McDonald Houses and five medical-center-based respite programs for families and caregivers. RMHC Triangle supports guest families from across NC, the US, and the world who seek critical-care treatment for their children at the Triangle’s world-class children’s hospitals.
Position Summary:
The Senior Manager of Family Support Services (LCSW) is a new role dedicated to building a comprehensive support system. Initial objectives include assessing family needs, mapping organizational and community resources, and establishing key partnerships. These insights will guide the implementation of targeted support programs and the development of a 3-5 year strategic roadmap for program growth in collaboration with Ronald McDonald House Triangle staff and leadership.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Work closely with Family Services and Operations team members in the delivery of current programs and services provided by Ronald McDonald House Triangle. Mastering an understanding of resources and systems already in place is an important foundation to establish before planning new programs.
- Develop a needs assessment tool for families staying at Ronald McDonald House, that can help guide utilization of support resources available as well as development and strategy for future programming.
- Network and collaborate with hospital social work and case management staff to understand the patient and family experience and determine how Ronald McDonald House can best support families and promote optimal health outcomes.
- Build connections with local community partners who provide services and supports to meet the needs of families. Organize identified resources in such a way that they can be readily available and easily communicated to families.
- Utilize needs assessments to create and implement targeted Family Support Programming, in collaboration with other staff members and volunteers.
- Establish an internship program that can be implemented quickly to maximize the resources of local MSW programs and scale program offerings.
- Strategically design and map a 3–5-year growth plan for a comprehensive Family Support program that serves families during and after their stay at Ronald McDonald House. In addition to expanding programs for families, the plan will also involve identifying funding and staff training needs.
Knowledge, Skills and General Competencies
- Demonstrated competence in providing social work services, including parent support groups.
- Experience working with a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to communicate effectively and desire to work with people of diverse backgrounds.
- Proven program design and development skills, including the ability to craft scalable 3-5-year strategic plan, and seek funding and other resources.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities, with the capacity to focus on complex, emotionally intense issues in both emergencies and project-based work.
- Networking and relationship building with hospital and community partners.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to understand medical terminology.
- Proficient with Microsoft 365 – Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint, PowerPoint.
- Ability to travel between program locations and to/from events and related activities as needed.
Other Duties and Responsibilities

- Assists with other tasks and projects as assigned.
- Ability to remain flexible with scheduling and available to be on-call for emergencies.
- Must be physically capable of carrying up to 35 lbs.
- Background and Professional Experience
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with a minimum of 5+ years of experience required.
- Proven ability to build, lead, and manage effective teams, coupled with strong skills in program design, implementation, and evaluation.
- Spanish-speaking ability preferred.
