OPPORTUNITY
The Academic Success Program Coordinator oversees the placement and management of 10,000 Degrees volunteers across select Marin K-12 sites.. In collaboration with school leadership, the Coordinator identifies key volunteer opportunities, ranging from 1:1 subject tutoring and college essay coaching to in-class support for academic and college-readiness programs. In addition, this role serves as the operational anchor for the team, balancing volunteer coordination with essential administrative support to ensure program efficiency. This is a part-time, non-benefited position consisting of 19 hours per week for 37 weeks, following the K-12 academic calendar.
PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL
To perform the essential functions of this position, employees may be required to:
- Sit, stand, talk, hear, reach, stoop, kneel and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, and keyboard.
- Have close-vision ability due to computer work.
- Engage in moderate, occasional lifting.
- Have a reliable means of transportation to attend regular work as well as other off-site business functions.
Note: Due to the nature and conditions of our work, applicants must submit to fingerprinting and must pass a tuberculosis (TB) risk assessment screen and/or provide a clear tuberculosis (TB) test as part of the background check.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Volunteer & Partnership Management
- Support with recruiting, screening, training, and matching volunteers with appropriate placements, monitoring their process, and providing support as needed.
- Conduct orientation sessions and ongoing training to ensure volunteers are well-prepared to support students.
- Collaborate with partner school administration and staff to identify volunteer needs and opportunities. Collaborate with other community partners when necessary.
- Meet regularly and work collaboratively with other Academic Success team members.
- Address and resolve any issues that arise with volunteer placements or interactions.
- Maintain positive, effective communication with volunteers and school staff (updates, training, workshops, etc.)
Organizational Collaboration & Training
- Work closely with other 10,000 Degrees staff and departments (Programs, Marketing, Development, etc.) to ensure program alignment and success.
- Assist 10,000 Degrees staff, including those onsite at partner schools, in the delivery of college readiness programs, such as college essay workshops.
- Participate in professional development and training sessions as needed/required to maintain and enhance relevant skills and knowledge.
Administrative & Data Support
- Serve as the operational anchor for the team, balancing volunteer coordination with essential administrative support to ensure program efficiency.
- Maintain accurate records of volunteer activities and volunteer hours.
- Oversee the end-to-end volunteer application process, ensuring timely follow-up, accurate database entry, and assignment across the coordinator team.
- Conduct regular evaluations to assess program effectiveness and areas for improvement.
- Manage the calendaring, RSVP tracking, and Zoom logistics for all volunteer training and events.
- Maintain rigorous oversight of the team’s digital filing systems, ensuring documentation is professional, organized, and current.
- Coordinate the development and distribution program-wide communications to ensure consistent messaging across all volunteer and partner touchpoints.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree
- Knowledge of public schools in Marin County and the diverse instructional needs of students and teachers
- Experience coordinating or working with volunteers
- Ability to be flexible and effectively problem-solve
- Knowledge of nonprofit, community-based organizations
- Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with diverse populations including educators, volunteers, and coworkers
- Excellent collaboration, presentation, and oral/written communication skills
- Ability to assess teacher requests, evaluate appropriateness, and match volunteers with options, then track status and maintain records
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically, take initiative, and implement ideas both as part of a team and independently
- Experience with primary office software packages (ex: Google Suite, Salesforce, Box)
- Knowledge of college application process, including essays, scholarships and financial aid helpful
- This position requires some in-person presence and/or travel within the regions served.
