Description

Position Title: Certification Engineer (040535.000078)

Position Location: 2275 Eagle Parkway, Fort Worth, TX 76177

Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm


Summary of Duties:  

· Perform engineering duties in planning and designing mechanically functioning equipment - aircraft seating products.

· Install, operate, maintain, and repair mechanically functioning equipment - aircraft seating products.

· Collaborate with the certification team and internal program team, installers, suppliers, FAA, EASA, and designees to research, plan, and execute large and small scale certification programs.

· Perform assigned certification tasks for a certification project as directed by Lead Engineer or Manager.

· Ensure company compliance with TSO certification process for aircraft seating products.

· Work as part of the certification team to implement previously established certification basis.

· Interface with internal customers to support timely project completion.

· Maintain accurate and up-to-date certification records.

· Compile and enter vendor testing data to support final certification.


Telecommuting permitted but must work at worksite location 3 days per week.

Requirements

Education requirements:  Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.


Experience requirements: 2 years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.


Special Skills or Other Requirements:

Must have 2 years of experience in each of the following: 

1. Aircraft interior certification processes through Part 25 and 27 airworthiness standards, and EASA or FAA regulations to define certification plans for aircraft interior modifications for compliance. 

2. Program management using MS Project to track deliverables and timelines of the interior modifications projects 

3. Creating 3D CAD models for aircraft instrumentation systems and creating CAD drawings using SolidWorks for installations of electrical systems for aircrafts. 

4. Evaluating behavior and integrity of installed or modified interiors by conducting structural analysis of material performance under static and dynamic loads, and analyzing attachment units for strengths and failure modes. 

5. Analyzing aerodynamic loads and assessing criticality (‘g’ value) under FWD, DWN, Side, Aft, gust loads, emergency landing loads, and landing and take-off loads. Evaluating loads for each aircraft category to determine critical conditions and calculate the factor of safety. 

6. Liaising with FAA DERs on certification strategy and approvals of TSO documents.


Travel requirements: 5% domestic travel and 5% international travel required
