Description
POSITION OVERVIEW
Improving the quality of life through prescribed exercise, hands-on care, and patient education, by examining each person and then developing a treatment plan to improve their ability to move, reduce or manage pain, restore function, and prevent disability. This position works closely with physical therapists and on site surgeons.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION
- Performs and documents daily assessments of patient’s condition
- Follows a plan of care which is appropriate to problems in identified and involves the patient/family according to their capabilities and desires
- Educates the patient and family/caregiver about patient deficits. Plans and/or assists with patient discharge from therapy services and treatment settings. Provides information regarding appropriate selection/use of adaptive equipment and support programs.
- Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.
- Promotes evidenced based care through collaboration with physical therapists and physicians on site.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- 1+ years of experience preferred but will consider new grads
- Physical Therapy Assistant License required by the state
- Graduated from a physical therapy assistant curriculum approved by the American Physical Therapy Association required
- BLS
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Frequent standing, typing, moussing, and reading paper and electronic documents
- Ability to file and track documents and data, both in written and electronic form
- Hours of business are Monday – Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
