At RDG, GIS is a foundational tool we use to better understand the communities we work with, and we're currently looking to add a GIS Intern to our Community and Regional Planning team. This individual will investigate geographic trends and findings, working to enhance RDG's design and planning practices and contributing to the betterment of the communities we serve.
If you're multi-skilled individual with a passion for discovering patterns and analyzing data, then all roads lead to RDG.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist GIS Analyst
- Gather, analyze and map data for projects
- Communicate spatial data in a visually appealing way
- Create project site maps
- Work with the planning team to organize spatial data in various formats
- Assist various internal planning and design teams
- Analyze site conditions for design teams
Requirements
- Ability to sort through the clutter and find the best route
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to work collaboratively throughout the organization
- Able to handle multiple projects and tasks at the same time
Education and Experience:
- Working toward a degree in geography, GIS, planning, or related field
- Background in planning preferred
- Proficient in ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS StoryMaps, and Survey123
- Knowledge of spatial analysis, map production, and geospatial data management
- Familiarity with demographic, land use, or planning related data
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel for data organization and analysis
- Basic familiarity with Python for GIS workflows preferred
- Familiarity with Adobe Illustrator and InDesign is a plus
