Heritage Financial Credit Union is seeking a detail-oriented analyst to support commercial lending decisions through financial analysis, credit memo preparation, and portfolio reviews. This role plays a key part in ensuring sound lending practices, regulatory compliance, and the ongoing financial health of our commercial loan portfolio.

POSITION PURPOSE:
This position is responsible to perform detailed financial analysis for all lending opportunities, prepare credit memos and other requests for presentation to loan committee. Perform annual credit reviews, ensure compliance with Credit Union’s policies and procedures, ensures timely collection and spreading of financial statements along with updated insurance binders provided by Borrowers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
- Review business loan applications and supporting financial statements to determine the borrowing capacity, capitalization and cash flow dynamics for the applicant. Use analytical software to evaluate loan requests; performing the initial analysis required to complete all data fields, interpreting the results, including any externally derived credit scores, and determining the need for further investigation or analysis.
- Spread financial statements, calculating certain ratios, including measures of liquidity, leverage and cash flow, and submitting the request to the appropriate approval channel. Prepare the credit memorandum, as well as any other reports necessary, along with the appropriate recommendation for review by the appropriate loan committee.
- Attend Commercial Loan Committee meetings, presenting summary information and participating in discussions on other loans being considered.
- Perform annual reviews on the commercial loan portfolio pursuant to the credit union guidelines.
- Oversee financial tracking processes and ensure accurate maintenance of annual review logs and documentation.
- Perform periodic reviews and/or renewals of commercial relationships and verify risk ratings.
- Gather data to maintain various portfolio monitoring and control reports.
- Provide assistance with maintenance of the loan origination system (LOS). Ability to manage detail-oriented projects or requests and proficiency with spreadsheets and other computer programs will be required.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
Bachelor's degree in finance, math, economics, data science, engineering or related field. At least 2 years’ underwriting experience, preferably dealing with commercial/business loans. Customer experience required.
KNOWLEDGE:
Basic accounting and/or business finance understanding and general economic conditions and competitor’s rates and terms etc. Ability to assess credit worthiness, risk evaluation, policy compliance, reporting and documentation. This position requires that the employee gain a working knowledge of Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) requirements and how they will affect their work. The employee will comply with all requirements of the BSA and cooperate with the designated BSA Officer in assuring compliance.
EXPERIENCE:
Experience and demonstrated proficiency using P.C. based software including Microsoft Word and Excel.
SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, proficiency in credit analysis, regulatory frameworks and credit risk management.
- Ability to project a professional appearance and positive attitude at all times.
- Excellent project management, communication, attention to detail.
