Construction Engineer

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Construction Engineer to join our Transportation Engineering team in Appleton, WI. Westwood has a highly experienced and dynamic team of individuals dedicated to providing high-level professional services to our clients.

Our ideal candidate will have 3+ years of diverse experience in transportation and construction. Candidates must have a willingness to perform a variety of tasks supporting various project types and project managers.

• Provide on-site representation for a variety of transportation or municipal projects, supporting tasks such as project documentation, material testing, and survey coordination.
• Assist with field observations on a variety of construction projects to ensure compliance with the contract documents.
• Monitor contractor activities on-site.
• Maintain daily records of work, including entering quantities into the required recordkeeping system.
• Coordinate with engineers, contractors, landowners, utility companies, public agencies, and clients regarding project progress and issues.
• Monitor contractor schedules and construction progress.
• Prepare record drawings.
• Perform field reviews and other assessments for use in design.
• Assist the project team in the preparation of plans, specifications, and cost estimates for projects of various size and complexity.
• Prepare engineering reports, feasibility studies, and utility evaluations.
• Prepare detailed various exhibits and design drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Produce high-quality work and implement and maintain quality assurance procedures. 

Required Qualifications:

• Knowledge of construction techniques, estimating, and scheduling.
• Outgoing, friendly, approachable.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• Detail-oriented with an ability to contribute to a positive work environment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to travel to the job site on a daily basis.
• Willingness to work outside on construction sites in varying conditions.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret plans and specifications.
• Ability to calculate project quantities accurately.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience in the municipal, transportation, or construction-related industry 
• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Ability to obtain required HTCP certifications
• Knowledge of WisDOT construction policies
• Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D
